Carleton Washburne
Monday Memo
May 31, 2021

Washburne Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the wonderful weather this holiday weekend. Welcome to the last Monday memo of the year. It certainly has been a school year we won't forget anytime soon.  As we look back on where we started in August, I can't help but reflect on all the hard work, collaboration and perseverance demonstrated by students, staff and our families. I personally want to say thank you for your support, and I am looking forward to closing out the year with an in-person 8th grade graduation and a 7th grade field day. Last week our students and staff took some time to create a sidewalk mural to recognize and celebrate our Washburne students;  Click Here to watch a short video of their work.

8th Grade Update
Thursday is graduation. Click Here for last week's update from the graduation committee. 8th graders will be bringing home graduation seating information on Tuesday, and we are sending out a separate email to 8th grade families Tuesday evening with more graduation specific information. Please keep an eye out for these communications. Also a reminder that 8th graders last day of school is Wednesday, June 2nd. 8th graders will have an early dismissal at 1:15pm on this day.

7th Grade Update
7th Graders will be joining in the end of year fun this week as well. On Thursday afternoon, our 7th graders will be participating in Field Day activities both in and out of the building. On Friday, 7th grade students will have a chance to meet with their advisories for the 2021-22 school year. Students will be able to visit their classrooms for next year and have a chance to tour the building. We are looking forward to welcoming our class of 2022 back in the fall and hope that all of our students and families have a relaxing and restful summer.

Take Care and Be Well,

DISTRICT NEWS

Student iPad Collection
At the end of each year, our district collects student iPads. Your student's iPad will be collected in their classroom between May 27th - June 4th.  The District's Technology team will be collecting the device and accessories (iPad Charging Adapter, Cord, K-4 iPad Case, 5th-8th iPad Case with all 4 Pieces). All files created on the device during your student's use this past school year, digital creations, pictures, books, stories, can only be saved and backed up off campus before the iPad is returned.

To ensure all of your student's digital creations, pictures, books, stories and files are saved to Google Drive and/or iCloud, the student (with the help of an adult in your household) should complete the iPad checklist specific to their current grade level, listed below. Simply follow the steps provided in the checklist below to backup any information you would like to save from this school year.

Remote Learning students are required to return their iPad to their home school by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4th. If you are unable to return the iPad before that time, you may return the device to the District Office or call 847-501-5467 to schedule a drop off appointment during the week of July 7th.

Please note: Only students attending the following summer programs will not need to complete these steps at this time and may hold onto their iPad for use during the summer programs:
  • Extended School Year (ESY)
  • Adventures In Learning (AIL)
  • Summer Support Programs for Reading and Math
  • Summer Slide
CHECKLISTS
The following checklists have steps included to help you backup all the important information from this year and prepare the iPad for a successful return process.
