Principal's Perspective
Dear Delone Catholic Families and Friends,

Two and a half years ago, I made the best professional decision of my life and accepted the position as principal of Delone Catholic High School. During that period, I have not had one single regret and I continue to tell friends and acquaintances that I am "living the dream." Delone Catholic has offered many exciting challenges for personal and spiritual growth and I believe that I have served the Delone community faithfully to the best of my ability. Over the past year, however, much has changed with respect to my personal circumstances, with four of my five children and all of my five grandchildren permanently moving to the midwest. As a community in which many families have lived in the same area now for generations, you can imagine that this has put a tremendous emotional strain on my wife and me. Consequently, after much prayer and discernment, we have decided to relocate to Texas this summer in order to live closer to our family. As such, I will not be requesting that my contract be renewed at the end of the school year. I have informed the members of our Board and they have already initiated the process to find my replacement so that the transition to a new administration can be as seamless as possible. That said, there is still much work that needs to be accomplished before the end of my term, so I ask for your continued prayers and support in the months ahead. May God continue to bless you and your families always and in all ways!

 Sincerely,

Richard La Rocca
Principal

A Message from the President of the Board of Directors
Greetings Delone Catholic families and friends,

Richard La Rocca has indicated that he will not be renewing his contract as Principal of Delone Catholic for the 2020-21 school year. I know I speak for the entire Board of Directors when I say that we are saddened by this news. Mr. La Rocca has been instrumental in making positive changes at Delone Catholic throughout the past few years, particularly in the areas of academics and advancement. Although we understand and support his decision, he will be greatly missed. I have been in contact with Dan Breen, Superintendent of Schools for the Harrisburg Diocese and he has already initiated the search process for a new Principal of Delone Catholic. The Board of Directors will be working closely with the Harrisburg Diocese to fill the position of Principal. In the meantime, I ask all of you to pray fo r Mr. La Rocca  and his family as they make this transition and also for Delone Catholic as we transition to new leadership. Please be assured that the Board and I are fully committed to the best interest of the school moving forward and we want to continue the great work that Mr. La Rocca and the entire faculty and staff are doing to educate and challenge students spiritually, academically, physically, socially and aesthetically within the traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Delone Catholic has a strong tradition of providing a community of stakeholders working together to graduate "Doers of the Word." I am confident that tradition will continue as we transition to a new leader in the coming months.

Thank you,
Amy L. Warner, '84, P'16
President, Board of Directors

Tuition Assistance Application Now Open & New Deadline In Place
Delone Catholic High School is fortunate to be able to offer tuition assistance through funding from various sources. There are individual benefactors who believe strongly in ensuring that students do not have to choose another school based on financial considerations. A growing number of these donors have established scholarship funds in honor or memory of loved ones or have provided funding to meet a growing need for tuition assistance. The majority of these funds are awarded directly by Delone Catholic High School, while several of them are managed by outside organizations.

The 2020-21 Tuition Assistance Application through FACTS is now available on the DCHS website under Affordability or by clicking here. This application is for all families who wish to apply for tuition assistance.  There is a $35 application fee. Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted online by March 1, 2020. Families may apply after this deadline, however funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. For Pennsylvania families, please click here  to view information on the Neumann Scholarship program through the Diocese of Harrisburg. If you have students in other Catholic schools using FACTS Tuition Management, you may apply for assistance for these students, using the same application.

Pennsylvania March for Life
Join us for the first-ever Pennsylvania March for Life next May!  Both sides of the abortion debate agree that the issue is now moving to the states.    Recently, a few states have passed some of the most pro-life laws in the country, while others have sought to legalize abortion up to the very moment of birth.    Pennsylvania is an extremely important state in this regard because we have one of the strongest pro-life histories in the nation, a tradition that is now at risk.    Recognizing this reality, the March for Life is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference and the Pennsylvania Family Institute to host the first-ever  Pennsylvania March for Life  on  Monday, May 18, 2020 .    The March will give pro-life Pennsylvanians the opportunity to pray, march, and lobby their representatives for the legal protection of the unborn.

Details:  Pennsylvania State Capitol, Harrisburg, PA  ● Monday, May 18, 2020  ● 11 am - Rally  ● 12 pm - March for Life.  Please see the website for more details -  PaMarchForLife.org  - or contact Bethany Peck  or Dan Bartkowiak.
