Early Literacy Videos for Ages 2-5

Join Ms. Julie J. from the New Prague Library as we celebrate fall with a book, rhymes, and activities about the weather. Our book this week is Puddle by Hyewon Yum (read with permission from Macmillan).

MUSIC
Available 10/19-10/26 only:
It’s a medley of musical mayhem. Join Ms. Ally as we sing, play and read about music. Our book is Because written by Mo Willems and illustrated by Amber Ren (read with permission from Disney Book Group).
Birth-24 Month Videos
Learn the sign for "daddy" and sing along to Mister Sun in week 4! 
Each Monday, we'll post a new video featuring Blanca and Mo! They'll demonstrate songs, rhymes, baby signs, and early literacy activities for your little one! (To minimize screen time for this age, these are short 2-3 minute videos.)

Gather the family and enjoy a special activity to complete each weekend! 
It's not too late for Lego Trivia! If you missed taking the Lego Trivia Challenge last weekend, no worries! You have until the end of Sunday 10/18 to test your knowledge of Legos and Lego history.

We've built our trivia challenge in Kahoot!, but there's no need for you to create an account -just click HERE, spin for a randomly generated player name, and play!
Mailout Workshops & Events
Registration now open for:
Mailout date 10/14
For ages 6-18. Younger participants may need adult assistance. Enjoy the science of engineering: create your own scribblebot to make wacky drawings! Your workshop kit contains supplies and complete instructions. You will need to provide a paper or plastic cup.

On the class date we'll mail you the supplies needed for the project and printed instructions.

Registration now open for:
Mailout date 10/21
For ages 3-8 with help from an adult.

Create two play activities that kids in the past commonly played with:
  • Living cards: greeting cards you'll design with holes in them, allowing you to draw tiny faces on your fingers and stick them through the holes to be the "head" of the picture.
  • Transformation books: basically flip books that allowed you to match different heads with different bodies. 
On the class date we'll mail you all the supplies needed for the project and printed instructions.

Registration opens 10/21 for:
Mailout date 11/4
For ages 3-8 with a parent; registration required and opens 10/21. Join local artist Maureen Carlson of WeeFolk Creations and make your own adorable. Each kit will include easy-to-shape Model Magic clay, printed instructions, and a link to an instructional video by Maureen.

On the "class date" we'll mail you all the supplies needed for the project and printed instructions, plus a link to video demonstration of the project.
