Thanks to our generous sponsors, advertisers, honorees, attendees, and donors, the 2018 Arts and Eats for Justice gala was the most successful fundraising event in VLJ's 17 year history. Completely shattering expectations, VLJ raised nearly half a million dollars through the reception on November 14, 2018-money that will go directly to helping low income New Jerseyans get the critical legal help they desperately need.

 

VLJ is proud to have honored Panasonic Corporation of North America, the Jewish Women's Foundation of New Jersey, and Hobby's Delicatessen & Restaurant (in memory of Sam Brummer and honoring Rona, Marc, and Michael Brummer) at the event. Each of the honorees has played an important role in supporting VLJ and its mission. 

 

We are so grateful to everyone involved in the evening, especially the gala committee led by Tricia O'Reilly of Walsh Pizzi O'Reilly Falanga LLP; our Board Chair and emcee for the evening, Susan McGahan of A T&T; Paula Franzese of Seton Hall Law School, who helped us raise almost $20,000 the night of the gala; the artists who brought the "Arts" to Arts & Eats for Justice: Newark Print Shop and the students of B.R.I.C.K. Peshine Academy and Jazz House Kids; and all the supporters and attendees.

 

We're looking forward to an extraordinary 2019 filled with clinics, know-your-rights seminars, and direct representation of clients. We're also excited to host CLE's and other training sessions for our volunteers. If you haven't been involved, or if your involvement has lapsed, we urge you to consider volunteering or donating today! Your support translates directly into a family staying in their home, a veteran getting their license restored, a child with special needs receiving the educational services they deserve, a single-mom successfully navigating a painful divorce, or a low-income neighbor finally tackling crippling debt and rebuilding their lives.
