June 1, 2021
For sixty years, we’ve heated our school with boilers that circulated hot water with a series of electric pumps and used pressurized air lines to regulate temperature. This system has needed more and more maintenance over the years and has grown less efficient. The current system also only heats our building. Cooling systems have been added to newer additions of the school but a large portion of our school has not had air conditioning.
Be The Light - Summer 2021
An exciting new update is happening this summer! In phase one of a two part HVAC plan, most of our academic areas will be outfitted with new heating and cooling systems that are designed to respond to the needs of the next generation of DeSales students.

Features include:
  • Individually zoned units that can heat or cool two adjacent spaces at different levels and create a custom level of comfort and efficiency.
  • Air purification systems designed to remove airborne particulates, odors and pathogens.
  • Quiet delivery of heating or cooling - no noise interference with classroom instruction.
  • Building monitoring systems that allow systems to be centrally monitored and controlled for optimal efficiency.
  • New ceilings in classrooms, not already equipped, will create better acoustics and enhance instruction and classroom discussions. New LED panel lighting will also be added to these rooms.
Pictured is an example of the new HVAC system’s appearance in the school - unobtrusive, quiet and efficient. The components to be used in the 2021 project were also used last year in sections of the 2020 Student Service Center project.

Be The Light - Summer 2022
All of these updates are made possible with the generous support of donors like you. We need your help to make sure that these great new projects continue to create opportunities for our students. For more information on how to invest in the future of St. Francis DeSales High School, please contact Tim Jewett - jewett@desales.co.

Spiritual Reflection
Lord, just as in the days of Jesus, we are pressured today by our society to compartmentalize and personalize our faith, to leave it out of the public sphere. Give us the courage and the love to live out our faith boldly, that it might inform the way we live, vote, and govern. While repaying to Cesar what belongs to Cesar, may we always repay to God what belongs to God. Amen.
