A Summary of Vestry Actions taken at its July 18
th
Meeting.
Craig Hunter recognition
Father Max and the Vestry recognized the outstanding service Craig provided to the church as our bookkeeper for nine years from 2010 until this year. Craig was presented with a gift in commemoration of her service to the church.
Children’s Ministries
–
Sr. Susanna Margaret
Sr. Susanna summarized some of the recent activities of the youth group. The group plans to conduct a “Story Core” with members of the congregation to get to know them better and form connections between the generations. She also noted plans for many future events including a service trip to Knoxville in October, a trip to Boston in December, and the Episcopal Youth Convention next July in Washington, DC. Max thanked Sr. Susanna and her husband Dave for all their contributions to Fellowship activities.
Fair report
– Dottie Gennaro
Dottie said the Fair innovations this year including relocating the Festival on Fair to the patio and Hodge Podge to Gardner hall worked well. She noted that volunteers, especially for Kidstreet are a problem and she suggested a detailed schedule of activities related to each area would help the chair of the event. Max thanked Dottie and all the volunteers for their hard work which resulted in a very successful Fair this year.
Finance committee report
– Sandy Keys
Sandy reviewed the membership of the committee and said several meetings had been held this Spring. The value of our investments was $851,852 at the close of business on July 17
th
. A motion was made to change the asset allocation targets so that 50% - 70% of the market value is held in equities and the balance in fixed income. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
Treasurer’s report
– Martin McKerrow
The Treasurer’s report was sent to the Vestry by email before the meeting. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to approve the Treasurer’s report.
Priest-in-Charge Comments
– Rev. Max Wolf
Rev. Jones, a summer visitor, commended the church on the fellowship and teamwork he has observed here. Max then thanked Scott Widmeyer for the outstanding recent newsletter.
Fellowship committee report
-
Penny Macintyre
Penny noted that 90 people had attended the Festival on Fair this year and the Fellowship committee did a tremendous job with the hors d’oeuvres. Coffee hour will continue to be held in the garden during the summer.
Warden’s reports
– Lou Gennaro
Lou noted the acoustic panels have been installed on the ceiling in Gardner hall by volunteers headed by David Dick and Robert Inglis. He noted that the Newcomer committee, Scott Widmeyer and Karen MacNab, have met with several newcomers and that eight of them attended the Fair.
Other Business
Max announced that the Nantucket Community Foundation has awarded a grant of $4,000 to support Laundry Love. He thanked Frank Robinson for preparing the grant application and shepherding it through the process

Calendar of Upcoming Events
St. Paul’s Annual School Supply Drive
Next Sunday, August 4th we will kick off our Annual School Supply Drive. The donations we collect are distributed in all three Nantucket Public Schools: elementary, middle school and high school. The supplies we provide help the students directly and are very much appreciated each year. A “shopping list” of suggested supplies is provided in the bulletin. Please consider taking part in this important St. Paul’s outreach and help to make this school year a success for all students.
Collection for Food Pantry
Our next collection for the Food Pantry will occur Sunday, August 4th. While we appreciate every single food donation, this month St. Paul's is collecting
non-perishables for our local Food Pantry. Suggested items are toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and personal hygiene products such as toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner or soap. Thank you for your generosity and support in caring for our island residents.
