"All parents know that our work is never done," says Mark Santora, parent of two recently graduated UCI students. He and his wife, Kathleen, have stayed engaged as donors and advocates with the university years after their children graduated, Kevin in 2010 and Kristen and 2014.

"UCI enabled our son and daughter to grow and mature through new and varied experiences in a safe, competitive and independent setting," says Mark Santora. "We chose to get involved to show our appreciation and gratitude."

Summer student career prep workshops

The Division of Career Pathways offers a wide range of workshops to prepare your student for their next job or future career including:
  • August 12 - Job Search Strategies
  • August 13 - LinkedIn Lab
  • August 15 - Interview Techniques
  • August 21 - How to Find a Work Study or Part-Time Job
Encourage your student to take a break from the beach or the books and join a workshop. Additional information a vailable here and on  Handshake.

Due to increasing interest from employers, the Fall Career Fair is happening in the Bren Events Center for the first t ime! It is recommended that your student review the growing list of employers on Handshake throughout the summer.
 
In addition to attending robust summer workshops, students can prepare for the fair by completing their Handshake profile and preparing or enhancing their resume.

Cultivating an inclusive culture
Q&A with Douglas Haynes, UCI's chief diversity officer
 
In a move that signals the importance UCI places on equity, diversity, inclusion and free speech, Douglas M. Haynes has become the campus's inaugural vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion.

The San Francisco native joined UCI's history faculty in the early 1990s. Eventually named vice provost for academic equity, diversity and inclusion, he oversaw creation of the Office of Inclusive Excellence, launched the Confronting Extremism initiative and led the university's successful push for federal recognition as a minority-serving institution.
