Earlier this week, we learned that Williamson County had received $93 million from the federal government to help with Covid-19 relief. Friday afternoon, they put $25 million in a grant program for for- and not-for-profit businesses with fewer than 100 employees within Williamson County.
These applications will be approved on a first-come-first-served basis. The application will only be online and it will be loosely based on the Paycheck Protection Program application (
here is a copy of that).
Williamson County Treasurer Scott Heselmeyer said It will be a two-prong (either/or) calculation. The first one is the exact PPP calculation, so if you have that monthly payroll number for PPP, that’s all you will need. It’s just one month instead of 2 ½. The second option will be fixed cost. and I will get you the details on that when I get them.
The grant will be the higher of those two, adjusted depending on whether they were open or not during the stay home order, and capped at $30k. Businesses that were completely closed will be eligible for 100% of that number, partially closed businesses will be eligible for 75% and essential businesses that never closed will be eligible for 50%.
I will send you a draft copy of the application as soon as I get it so you can be prepared when the website is open next week. It is expected to be approved at Tuesday's Commissioner's Court meeting. The site should go live on Wednesday or Thursday.
