BETH EL NEWS

A message from your Security Committee:

The Security Committee would like to remind all members that our security guards work very hard to protect us while on duty. Their need to focus on potential threats is similar to a lifeguard. Just as we would not distract a lifeguard during their duties, please respect what our guards do for us and the guidelines under which they work. Please refrain from activities such as offering food to eat or chairs to sit on or any other well intentioned endeavor that would distract or diminish their job performance under our security protocols.

Thank you

Sarah and Emily Bradley’s Mitzvah Project!

Our mitzvah project is for the Humane Society. Sarah and I are making toys for dogs that do not have them, out of old t-shirts. The toys are very durable, and are fun for the dogs to play with. We chose this for our project because although the Humane Society does a great job taking care of the dogs, and rescuing them the dogs still need toys to play with. This subject was very close to home for us, because we have four dogs ourselves and whenever our dogs don’t have toys they always get cranky.

Do you have some T-shirts that you can donate to Sarah and Bradley? Their goal is to make 50 toys to donate! Please see the attached picture to see their dog with the toy!!
T shirts can be dropped off at Beth El Tuesday-Friday 9:00-4:30.

BETH EL BROTHERHOOD
BETH EL SISTERHOOD
Sisterhood spent this Sunday visiting the Rescuers Exhibit. As Vickie Kennedy states, "I really like the Tell Your Children because isn’t that why we do what we do………Never Again!!"
The stories in the exhibit were fascinating! I think the picture of the ladies reading the stories emphasizes that feeling! What incredible, strong, selfless bravery. So many Christians helping so many Jews. Another reason we remember that all humans must help and watch out for each other.
The next time you are walking into Beth El, please look down and take notice that there are 20 BEAUTIFUL NEW ENGRAVED BRICKS leading to the front entry, adding to the dozens of memories already there.

How special it is to honor, remember and perpetuate people and special occasions! This is an abiding remembrance that can warm your heart each time you come into Beth El.

You can still take advantage of this year’s Brick Sale. For only $100, you can purchase 2 bricks. The bricks become a permanent part of our synagogue. Our lively chair Paula Klausner will be delighted to help you.  poopsiek@gmail.com or call her at 904-662-4339.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
Together, the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville and The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is partnering on August 25th by opening the Cummer's doors to the community and showing all that we have to offer through our amazing organizations. From 12:00-4:00, there will be a variety of information and projects available to showcase what our agencies, schools, synagogues and The Cummer have to offer. There will be representatives from all the organizations to tell you about the work they do and answer any questions you might have. Please come out, have fun, learn something new, and celebrate all that our community has to offer while enjoying the art and atmosphere at The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. Food will be available for purchase and registration details will be up soon!
