Common Threads

LOVE IN ACTION is this year's Stewardship Campaign theme. 
Have you picked up your packet yet? Pledge cards will be handed out and collected on Celebration Sunday March 17th followed by a Finger Food Potluck after the service: A-F main dishes; G-M dessert bars/cookies; N-R side dishes; S-Z fruits and/or vegetables.

Share the Plate 
 The February collection for recipient Café au Play was $753.67 for a two month total of $1,231.39. Our contributions enable families with young children to receive care and connect with the community.

Needham Elementary 
We continue to collect donations for Needham with dollars going toward individual student needs for winter clothing, school supplies, activity fees etc. Drop donations in the school box on the SRJ table.

Support Thrive! 
Page 141 of the Local First coupon book has a coupon from the Payroll Department. Tear it out, select Thrive! and drop it off at Maria's or the Local First office by March 1st and the Payroll Department will donate $5 to Thrive!

The Caring Team 
is sponsoring a Hospice and End of Life Series

Diversity Dialogue Annual Community Event 
FLC Union Ballroom February 23rd 9:00-3:00. UUFD co-sponsors with FLC, Durango High School, City of Durango Community Relations Commission. Free, open to public. Lunch provided. Register by February 15th EMAIL LAUREN 

Women of Resolution Documentary Film 
sponsored by UUFD Immigration Team and Friends Meeting Friday March 1st 7:00 pm in Sanctuary. Features four Colorado women in sanctuary churches. Open to public. Donations to help Rosa Sabido accepted.
 
Mindfulness Meditation
Beginning in April. No prior experience necessary. Ages 9-99. Have you ever wanted tools to calm your nervous system and reduce incessant thinking? Drop in anytime.
1st Weds 8:00 am easy stretching, 8:15-9:00 am sitting + walking meditation in Columbine House Children's Chapel.
2nd Weds 5:00 pm easy stretching, 5:15-6:00 pm sitting + walking meditation in Columbine House downstairs.

The Unitarian/Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) 
UUSC supports human rights and social justice issues around the world. The 35 members and 4 attenders of UUFD provided $1,518 in the 2018 "Guest at the Table" campaign. New Tai Chi Class on Thursdays 11:00 am-12:00 pm in Bowman Hall 
Tai Chi is sometimes referred to as "moving meditation."  It is helpful for joint mobility, balance, bone strength and stress relief. The. group is suitable for beginners or intermediate practitioners. No special clothing or equipment is required and drop-ins are welcome. For more info  EMAIL JUDY

THE BASIC NEEDS TEAM needs your help at the Manna Soup Kitchen
Volunteers needed to prepare & serve lunch on the 4th Tuesday & 4th Friday
of each month 9:00 am-12:30 pm. Also, volunteers are needed to pick up from Walmart on Tuesday 10:30 am & Friday 9:30 am at north and south City Markets to transport to Manna.  EMAIL MARILYN

and give the following info: name of Member in charge, location, date, start and end time of the meeting/event - 30 minutes before and after will be added for set up and clean up.
