Very glad to inform you of the diverse programming happening in the next couple of weeks, and more to be announced.
- Saturday, January 26 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm We are happy to announce a new Saturday Arts Program cycle at Loisaida Center beginning tomorrow. This program is open to middle school age children at no cost. Previous registration is required.
- Tuesday, January 29 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm our newest artists in residence; Alva Mooses and Claudia Cortínez present the first event of their residency project LAZO.
- Monday, February 4 from 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm. For those of us young at heart but over 65 we kick off the beginning of the year with our monthly Loisaida Senior Day.
Keep helping us dramatically reduce energy waste. Installing solar, building microgrids, retrofitting buildings, and such takes many years to realize. And we must pursue those longer-term goals. However, we're in a climate crisis and can't wait years before we have a measurable impact. In order to more urgently reduce carbon emissions we must accelerate our efforts.

Blurb:
Álvaro is certain that an episode of The X-Files he saw while growing up in Puerto Rico has been mysteriously altered since its broadcast, but no one believes him. A darkly compelling tale about the dread of having no one to trust - and how families, and nations, keep circling the places that haunt them.
Attendance to the performance is not required. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis according to availability.
Specially discounted tickets to the play are available to Loisaida's community at ticket
purchase

Help us dramatically reduce energy waste in the LES.
Installing solar, building micro-grids, retrofitting buildings, and such
takes many years to realize. And we must pursue those longer-term goals.
However, we're in a climate crisis and can't wait years before we have a
measurable impact. In order to more urgently reduce carbon emissions we
must accelerate our efforts.
Organizing to replace and recycle old appliances has an immediate impact
because we don't have to build anything. This low-hanging fruit seems to
be an important and achievable first step.
The initial phase is to survey residents to map and identify outdated and
inefficient high-load appliances (i.e. refrigerators and air conditioners)
starting on NY City Council districts 1 and 2.
A survey was launched by Loisaida Inc. in the summer of 2018 in partnership with Beyond the Grid as part of NY Community Trust's pass-through grant program with LESReady! (Spanish, Chinese, English):
