Summer Reading and Craft Check-In Day at the Library - on Saturday, July 27 at 6123 Central City Parkway, Meeting Rooms A and B, anytime from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Today is the last day to CHECK-IN your reading logs!  Stop in to "check-in" with your reading log AND have fun making a craft! Westland Goodfellows Christmas in July Bowling Fundraiser -  on  Saturday, July 27  at 6:00 pm. Bowler ticket price is $25 per person with a maximum of 5 people per lane. Ticket price includes all you can bowl, shoe rental, house ball, pizza and pop (served around 7:30 pm). Sponsorship packages are also available. This event takes place at Westland Bowl, 5940 N. The Westland Library is hosting the Kids Summer Reading Party - on Monday, July 29 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. All children who participated in the Summer Reading Program are invited to attend our Summer Reading Finale!  Come and enjoy the H2O Spray Zone along with some fun refreshments!  The spray park is located at Tattan Park: 1901 N. Experience Virtual Reality at Adult Video Game Night at William P. Faust Public Library - on Monday, July 29. This event is from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at 6123 Central City Parkway,  Meeting Rooms A and B.  Join us for a special Adult Video Game Night featuring the chance to try out Virtual Reality!  Adults 18 or older are invited to play video games and experience Virtual Reality provided by the library.  Take a ride on a comet, try out Fruit Ninja or Beat Saber, or visit the ocean floor.  Free pizza and pop will be provided. Council Study Session
  • The Council will hold a study session on Monday, July 29 at 6:00 pm at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road, to discuss marijuana regulations. To see the agenda, please click here.
Historical Commission Meeting
  • The Westland Historical Commission will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:00 pm at the Westland Historic Village Park, 857 North Wayne Road. If you are interested in joining the Westland Historical Society, please stop by any Saturday from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm to pick up a membership form and take a tour of the buildings which includes the Eloise Hospital Museum. Learning to Levitate with OhJustFlow - on Tuesday, July 30 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Westland Library, 6123 Central City Parkway, Meeting Rooms A and B. Registration is open and encouraged for grades 7 - 12.  A levitation wand is a flow art / dance that involves a single rod connected to the artist via a thin nearly invisible string. During this program, you will get to watch the Leviwand dance, performed by Julie Watson (OhJustFlows), that showcases some tricks and dance moves with a Leviwand.  After the performance is over, you will get a chance to learn and play with a levitation wand for yourself! Music on the Lawn - on  Wednesday, July 31 at 7:00 pm. Join us at the William P. Faust Public Library, 6123 Central City Parkway, for an outdoor concert with The Groove Suns. Bring your lawnchairs and blankets, and enjoy this three piece band with both fresh and familiar takes on much loved classics and forgotten hits throughout the history of rock and pop music. Explore Arts for Adults - on Wednesday, July 31 at 7:00 pm. This event will take place at the William P. The Westland Farmers & Artisans Market - on Thursday, August 1  from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, 1901 North Carlson. Blues, Brews & BBQ - on Friday, August 2 at 5:00 pm and Saturday, August 3 at 4:00 pm, 1901 North Carlson. Teen Summer Reading Party - on Friday, August 2 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Westland Library, 6123 Central City Parkway, Meeting Room B. Teens who complete the Summer Reading program and  turn in their logs by Saturday, July 27, will be invited to our exclusive after-hours party featuring snacks, video games, a freebie table, the return of the candy ball, giant Jenga, crafts, prizes, games, airbrushed temporary tattoos and WHACK-A-WALL! Remember to turn in your permission slip ahead of time or bring it with you on the night of the party! Family Scavenger Hunt - on Saturday, August 3 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, at the William P. Faust Public Library, 6123 Central City Parkway, Meeting Rooms A and B. Here's your chance to participate in this popular annual competition - registration is open! Each family will get a list of items to find around the city.  Figure out where you can find the items, drive there safely, and then take a picture (on a digital or phone camera) with your family in it.  Once you have taken a picture with all the items on the list, come back to the library to get a prize.  There is no time limit, but the sooner you make it back, the greater choices you have for a prize (one prize per family)! You will need a car, a camera, and your family. It will take between 45 minutes and 90 minutes. We recommend not bringing children younger than 5, as the hunt involves getting in and out of your car multiple times.  Also, you may want to show some team spirit and pick a family color to wear!  PLEASE REGISTER ONLY ONCE USING A FAMILY NAME; click on "Group", and include the number of family members attending. For more information, please visit www.westland.lib.mi.us.   

Jefferson Barns Summer Reading Program - join in any time during summer vacation. This program is for independent readers aged 5-15. Each week, read one or more books and visit Jefferson Barns Reading Room, 32150 Dorsey, to pick a prize from the prize box!
