Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative (SeMRHI’s) Tonya Green takes the National Stage demonstrating best practices in HIV Care from a MS FQHC
Tonya Green, Director of Social Services/Ryan White Program, SeMRHI, presents at the national Ryan White Conference on HIV Care & Treatment this past December. Her presentation, Utilizing EMR and CAREWare to Generate Clinical Quality Management, focused on SeMRHI’s use of EMR and lab interface in CAREWare to decrease manual lab data entry and errors; and reduction of time spent conducting data entry and utilization of CAREWare to generate more accurate performance measures reports.

Additionally, SeMRHI created custom exam templates in the EMR to capture required HIV clinical care, including screenings, labs and immunizations for People Living with HIV (PLWH), which positively impacts retention rates from 62% to 95%.
The HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau hosts this conference every 2 years, providing participants with critical training, and technical assistance. The conference provides a forum for shared best practice models and strategies that aim to assist the nation provide a coordinated national response to expand access, improve treatment outcomes, and reduce new HIV infections and HIV-related health disparities. The conference is the largest gathering of HIV/AIDS healthcare providers, recipients, consumers, and stakeholders in the US. Congratulations Tonya and thanks for representing Mississippi!

Note: HRSA modified the FOA on February 1 st to clarify that only full-time, fixed sites located in a "hot spot" zip code are eligible for the High Unmet Need Area priority points. Updated New Access Points (HRSA-19-080) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)

The NAP Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) offers priority points for High Unmet Need, FQHC Look-Alike status and Sparsely Populated Areas. Thanks to work the Indiana Primary Care Association (IPCA) has shared, you are also able to access a map of the hot spot zip codes. To access the map, use this direct link to the hotspot page developed by IPCA to visually display the zip codes in Mississippi. Please note: To access the MS map, click "MS" on the state filter to the right of the screen and allow a few seconds for the map to populate.
