Your Parish Office will be closed  on Monday February 18  in honor of Presidents Day.  Take a few moments this weekend to read about Faithful Citizenship here
.
"We need to participate for the common good.
Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics.
This is not true: good Catholics immerse themselves in politics
by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern."
- Pope Francis, 9/16/13

St. Joseph - St. Damien Award Deadline Sunday

You know someone at our parish who daily demonstrates the loving commitment and compassion of Saint Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and of St. Damien of Molokai, who devoted his life to caring for society's outcasts.  Nominate him or her for our "St. Joseph - St. Damien Award" to be presented on March 17.  Deadline for nominations is February 17; download form  here or pick one up in church, and return completed form to marked box at the Basilica entrance.

Basilica Hours

As Catholics, we are fortunate to be able to spend time in church throughout the week and not just during Mass and scheduled services.  However, for safety purposes the Basilica cannot be left open at all hours.  So when can you make a visit?
The door next to the Gathering Space is generally unlocked from 6:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays from 6:30am to 1:00pm and again from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
Of course, the Basilica is open later on nights when we have special events, such as Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, prayer services or choir rehearsals.
So stop by to visit Jesus in quiet prayer when you have a chance.

Questions for Reflection

For AdultsIn what way are you serving the poor, as Jesus did?

For Children: When have you helped bring God's love to someone who was sad, or hungry, or whom others made fun of?

Serving Those with Special Needs  - Special Mass on March 3

Many in our community have special needs due to developmental delays or disabilities, which can make them feel different or isolated.  Our Special Needs Inclusion Ministry works to ensure they experience welcome, support and spiritual nourishment within our faith community.  For that purpose, a
Special Mass for Special Needs  will be offered on Sunday March 3rd at 3:00pm, here at St. Joseph Basilica.  All are welcome to attend a Sunday Mass that has been adapted to meet the special needs of those with developmental disabilities, and encourage their active participation.  It will be followed by a reception in Notre Dame Hall for families to network and share resources.   Flyer available  here
