ABOUT THE RUDOLPH H. & SARA G. WYNER LECTURE:
In 1985, Dr. Elizabeth Wyner Mark and Justin L. Wyner endowed a lecture series in honor of their father, Rudolph Wyner. The lectures series celebrates Wyner’s love of Jewish art and folkways. The series was later renamed the Rudolph H. and Sara G. Wyner Lecture Series after their mother’s death.
CALL FOR TEACHERS
24 hours of virtual learning, beginning Thursday, May 28 at 5:00 p.m.
On Shavuot we go big. We celebrate the revelation of Torah at Mount Sinai by learning together, often in what is called a  Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a yearly Torah all-nighter. This year, join us as we go bigger as dozens of teachers, artists, and facilitators lead us in study, prayer, art making, music and more over a full 24 hours in the zoomosphere. Join us for an hour or two, or brew a pot of coffee and stay up for a full day of learning, connection, and celebration.

Are you interested in leading a learning session? Click  here to fill out our teacher volunteer form, or email Brigid Goggin to learn more.
PURSUING JUSTICE IN THIS PANDEMIC
Pursuing Justice in this Pandemic: a focus on immigration
Thursday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.

During this time of fear and uncertainty, our undocumented neighbors are experiencing heightened health and safety risks. People are protesting life threatening living conditions in ICE Detention and experiencing dangerous shortages of basic needs once released. Join Tikkun Central's Zoom call with the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC)'s Rachie Lewis and learn more about the work we're doing with the Boston Immigrant Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN) and how you can help safely from your homes. Tikkun Central is Temple Israel's heart of righteous impact work and we invite you to learn more about what we do and how to get involved. Register here and please be in touch with   Tali Puterman  with any questions.
Shop our Shuk of Black-Owned Businesses

During this global Covid-19 pandemic, all of us have been impacted in unique and challenging ways. Because of systemic racism that is embedded throughout our society, the novel coronavirus strain is  hitting black communities the hardest . Tikkun Central’s Racial Justice Initiative is already committed to promoting purchases from Black-owned businesses and we recognize the unique challenges of safely accessing goods and services in these times. We invite you to explore our virtual  shuk  (marketplace) and align your spending with your values as we support local Black business owners. From contact-less food deliveries/pick-ups to purchasing books and online meditation and exercise classes, find what you need at  www.tisrael.org/shuk .

Chaverai: Words with Friends
While the ancient rabbis were not quarantining, they did understand loneliness and so they created chevruta, the practice of studying with a friend. Fill out this form to join us as we adapt this ancient practice to our contemporary times. We will match you with another member of the community for you to check in with, and provide a range of Jewish and non-Jewish sources for you to think through together.
Upcoming Events:

POSTCARD PROJECT
Temple Israel’s Green Team launched The Postcard Project in February to give our community a chance to honor Cantor Einhorn. The postcards will be hung in the Atrium for the Cantor’s Celebration in September, and then included in a Memory Box. In this new landscape, it is no longer feasible to get physical postcards to—and back from—interested congregants by mid-August, so we have moved it online! You can fill out a postcard here .
FRIENDS ANNUAL FUND
In these unprecedented times of social distancing, Temple Israel is operating in high gear to set up many ways to participate and interact with fellow congregants of all ages for classes and gatherings. A gift to the Temple Israel Friends Annual Fund will allow us to bring Religious School students together for online learning, will enable us to livestream our Qabbalat Shabbat services to all who are seeking connection during this time of isolation, and will continue to enable TI members in Boston and across the world to come together virtually to live Judaism together in new and exciting ways.
