Call for Proposals: ILCLA 2018 Deadline Extended
|
The second Symposium on Indigenous Languages and Cultures of Latin America (ILCLA),
will take place October 25-28, 2018 at Ohio State.
Proposals are now being accepted for individual presentations and group panels related to one of eight thematic tracks.
The deadline to submit proposals has been extended to
March 31, 2018.

Summer Seminars Abroad in Havana, Cuba

The Center for Latin American Studies and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University announce this year's intensive Summer Seminars Abroad, a 16-day workshop in Spanish linguistics in Havana, Cuba.
The program, to take place
July 9-25, 2018,
is intended primarily for Spanish teachers. Application is open, however, to graduate students from Spanish and other disciplines who have a demonstrated ability in the use of the Spanish language and a need for this type of course.

Lecture: Esther da Costa Meyer

The Department of Classics is pleased to announce the 30th Annual Thomas E. Leontis and Anna P. Leontis Memorial Lecture in Modern Greek Studies. On Thursday, March 29th at 3:00 pm in the Interfaith and Reflection Room (Ohio State Union), Esther da Costa Meyer will be giving a lecture on
"Found in Translation: Neoclassicism in Havana."
This lecture examines the rich complexity of Cuba's borrowings from Greece, particularly in Havana, and the ways in which neoclassicism molded the architecture and the urbanism of the city from the 1820s to the 1950s.
