Camp Rattlesnake

Estrella Warbirds Museum had a large presence at the California Mid State Fair this year with a WWII set design as a backdrop for the Indiana Jones/Camp Rattlesnake feature exhibition in the Edna Valley Bldg.

A huge "THANK YOU!" goes out to Mike Kelley, Ron Brooks, James Messineo, John Everett, Margi Bauer, Sue Dollemore and Jill Thayer for transporting precious cargo and setting up the exhibition seen by thousands of visitors between July 17th and July 28th.

We Still Need Your Help on the Draken!!!

Recently, a Swedish Mach 1.7 fighter jet, a Saab Draken, was donated to the Estrella Warbirds Museum.   Unfortunately, the t ransport costs  from Chino to Paso Robles, and a heavy duty crane for offloading, which run in excess of $6500, were not included in the donation. We can use your help in covering these expenses.

Read more information about this aircraft and/or to donate, please click on the J-35 Draken.
The "Beast" is Now On Display in The Woodland Auto Display!

Jeff Gordon won the 1991 USAC Silver Crown Championship driving this car to victory!   The Woodland Auto Display is honored to host this winning vehicle currently on loan to the museum from Fred Ede, Jr.

At first glance, the appearance of a Silver Crown Car is somewhat similar to a Sprint Car. However, Silver Crown cars are much larger and carry approximately 75 gallons of fuel, alcohol, versus about 22 gallons for a Sprint Car. They also have a longer wheelbase, approximately 96 inches compared for Sprint. They have the option of an on-board starter (like a car), or a starter that was not attatched to the car, i.e. aircraft style starter that was shoved into the front of the car. Two way radios are allowed in a Silver Crown car (but not Sprint car. Weight minimum of 1475 pounds without the driver, vs 1175 pounds without driver on Sprint Car.

This is only one of many sprint, midget, modified race cars, plus numerous classic vintage and historical vehicles on display at the Woodland Auto Display.   Come on down and visit us soon!  Plan on staying a while to take it all in.
