. After July 31, all outstanding 2018 tax balances are transferred to Milwaukee County and payment will no longer be accepted through the Village. Outstanding balances and payment details can be obtained through the Village website through July 31.

National Night Out is August 6:
|
|
All the North Shore’s finest come together to present National Night Out featuring demonstrations, booths, food trucks, meet-and-greets, and entertainment.
The event will be Tuesday, August 6 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The event will be held at Parkway Elementary (5910 N. Milwaukee River Parkway). First responders and professionals will be on-hand including FBI agents, sheriffs, police, fire department personnel, search-and-rescue, and highway patrol to showcase equipment, tools, and vehicles. This is a free family event!
The program is coordinated by the North Shore Fire Department and the following Police Departments: Glendale, Brown Deer, Bayside, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point, and Shorewood. Learn more information on the National Night Out Facebook page.

Ice Rink Proposal Public Information Meeting:
|
|
The Milwaukee Winter Club (Non-Profit Youth Hockey Organization) has submitted a proposal to provide and utilize an ice rink at Cahill Park. The proposed rink would be installed over six of the existing tennis courts and would be in place from mid-November to mid-March. In addition to use by the Milwaukee Winter Club, the proposal also includes the availability for use by the general public. Information meetings:
- The Club will be holding an informational session on Wednesday, July 31 in the Cahill Parking Lot. The session will begin at 7:30 pm.
- The Whitefish Bay Village Board will be reviewing the request at its meeting on Monday, August 5. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm at Whitefish Bay Village Hall and is open to the public. There will be an opportunity for the public to provide feedback during the meeting.
It is important to note that the proposal is conceptual at this time. Operational specifics, maintenance responsibilities, financing and usage requirements/conditions will be memorialized via an official agreement between the Village of Whitefish Bay and the Milwaukee Winter Club if the proposal advances.

Recognizing Officer Bush:
|
|
|
|
Police Officer Ryan Bush has worked for the Village of Whitefish Bay Police Department for 11 years. He currently is a patrolman working the second shift. One of Ryan’s hobbies is fishing and he is a very accomplished fisherman. Recently, Ryan learned of an organization called “Healing Patriots”, this organization is designed and dedicated to helping injured veterans and first responders find opportunities to go fishing with a variety of experienced fisherman across the United States and Canada.These opportunities help injured veterans and first responders recover from their injuries. Officer Bush donated his boat and his expertise to Healing Patriots.
He partook in his first trip with this organization on May 18, 2019 on a multi-day trip to Presque Isle, WI. There were several military veterans and first responders on this trip. It was a fulfilling experience for P.O. Bush as he got to share his passion with others. It was a great time for all and as an added bonus for P.O. Bush he caught his biggest Smallmouth Bass ever a 7.05 pound beauty.

New Parking Meters Coming Soon:

New Meters Will Accept Credit Card and App Payment:
Are you ever short on coins when trying to park on Silver Spring D
rive? New parking meter upgrades are coming! This August, new POM ParkTel 2.0 meters will replace the old coin-only meters that are reaching end-of-life and are becoming difficult to repair and maintain.
The new parking meters will accept all major credit cards and will also accept payment via the ParkMobile app. In addition, the new meters will work with the MKE Park app. App payments will display immediately on the meter after payment is made. The meters will continue to accept coins.

The Village of Whitefish Bay is currently underway on an important planning project for Consaul Commons. The plaza is located by the historic clock tower between The Bay Restaurant and Gerhard’s Kitchen and Bath Store (see highlighted blue area on map below). There will be an open house to present the concepts to the public on August 15th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Village Hall (5300 N. Marlborough Drive).
The Village will be seeking public input on the potential design and use of the outdoor space. You can provide input and keep up-to-date with the planning process by visiting:

Did you know? July 28th is world Hepatitis Day. Worldwide, 300 million people are unknowingly living with viral hepatitis. On World Hepatitis Day we call on people to take action and raise awareness to find these “missing millions”.
Hepatitis can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term), which can lead to liver failure, cirrhosis, or liver cancer if left untreated. Common symptoms include fever, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, joint pain, light-colored stools, and jaundice. Symptoms can appear 2 weeks to 6 months after an acute infection or decades later with chronic infections. However, many people with hepatitis never experience symptoms, leaving many people undiagnosed. Currently, about 66% of people with Hepatitis B and 50% of people with Hepatitis C are unaware of their infection. As of 2017, an estimated 90,000 people were living with Hepatitis C in Wisconsin, with less than half having been identified and reported.

How is it spread?
- Hepatitis A: Contact with objects, food, or drinks contaminated by feces or stool from an infected person.
- Hepatitis B: Contact with blood, semen, or certain other body fluids from an infected person (i.e. unprotected sex, sharing dirty needles, sharing personal hygiene products).
- Hepatitis C: Contact with blood from an infected person (i.e. sharing dirty needles/syringes).
Prevention
- Vaccinations are available to protect against Hepatitis A and B. However, there is currently no vaccine available for Hepatitis C.
- Wash your hands after going to the bathroom and before fixing food or eating.
- Use latex condoms for intercourse, which may lower the risk of sexual transmission.
- Avoid tap water when traveling to certain countries or regions. Ask your doctor about risks before you travel.
- Don't share drug needles.
- Don't share personal items—such as toothbrushes, razors and nail clippers—with an infected person.
Who should be tested?
- Hepatitis A: No routine recommendations
- Hepatitis B: Current injection drug users, men who have sex with men, pregnant women and infants born to infected mothers, people on immunosuppressive therapy, people with end-stage renal disease
- Hepatitis C: Adults born between 1945 – 1965, current or former injection drug users, , long-term hemodialysis patients, infants born to infected mothers.
