The Avondale Children's Center is seeking several new board members. Are you interested in serving on the ACC board? Please read and respond by August 1, 2019.  And please spread the word!

Families of the ACC  3, 4, and 5 years old who are attending VBS, specially tailored for their age, can read the parent letter sharing camp details and mission. 

The form for Congregation members to use to nominate Elders is available here and on our website. Please place the completed form in the Church Office or give to Patti Oswald or Alice Cuviello. Names are due by Sun, July 28. Thank you.

Join in music glorifying God  

Our Worship Choir and Worship Band are on break from rehearsals. They will return on Aug 7, with rehearsals moving to Wednesdays! Handbells are on a rehearsal break too and will return late Aug/early September. Music Ministry has openings in the choir, band and handbells.  If you enjoy singing or playing an instrument and being a part of a great group of people, consider volunteering in our Music Ministry!  Making sacred music is a joyful undertaking. Aug 17 - You're invited!

On Sat, Aug 17, Rev. Jim Ewing will be received into the Presbytery of Charlotte at the stated Presbytery Meeting. The meeting will begin at 9:30 AM and Avondale members are invited to join in support of Jim. Zach Chambers will drive the bus. If you'd like to ride, email Zach to  reserve your seat. The bus will depart from the church at 8 AM. 

ASAP met on Mon, July 22 and enjoyed a delicious lunch and " Christmas in July". Several ASAP members shared items they are making for the Avondale Christmas Market on Dec 7. Read more about ASAP, the Christmas Market & Village, how to be a vendor, and ASAP Mission projects. 

We are developing the fall schedule and would like to include more offerings.

The sanctuary that we know today was built on two more lots purchased between 1944-1947 at the corner of Avondale Avenue (now Park Road) and Lilac Road. The sanctuary was dedicated on Sunday, July 13, 1947... almost 52 years ago! More "Avondale, did you know..?

It is with sadness that we share that Martha Meunier joined the Church Triumphant on July 17, 2019 (b. July 11, 1932). A service will be held on August 6 at 11 AM in the Sanctuary and will be followed by a brief i nternment in the Sacred Garden and receiving of friends and family in the Fellowship Hall.
