'Tis the Season: Short-Term Teams and Summer Intern
We love to serve alongside
short-term teams and interns, and this summer at NLCH we've had so much going on.
We welcomed a
Teacher Training Team from Missouri who brought a donation of 40 ChromeBooks for all of our teachers! The team was made up of Mike Johnson, Karen Johnson and Deana Pope. They spent time showing the teaching staff how to use their ChromeBook to do lesson plans, basic emailing and communication, sharing docs and even some possible uses in the classroom with their students. The teachers are super excited and motivated!
The manpower available with large teams like the one from
Church on the Rock, Lubbock, TX really helps us get going on some of our larger projects. This summer we've been working on painting the New Life Christian School buildings and basic landscaping. We love to see teams working hard and playing hard.
It was a joy to see three of the team members baptized along with our own ten-year-old Gaby!
New Life Christian School is in session over the summer, but they have a week-long break at the end of June. We had so much fun with a youth team from
Highland Baptist Church, Waco, TX. They played all kinds of games, did crafts, and shared Bible stories with the kids. They also did some much needed landscaping. The highlight of the week was going to see
Toy Story 4, complete with popcorn and a drink.
[Spoiler Alert!] They even made a "Forky" as one of their crafts!
Ryan Schreckengast is our Summer Intern! He is a student at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and this summer is helping with English classes in the school, home work in the afternoons, and just sharing life with all the different kids of NLCH.
