Building Bridges and Crossing Borders
Reverend Scott McNeill
From Edmund Pettis Bridge in Selma, Alabama, to Paso del Norte International Bridge in El Paso, Texas, bridges represent a powerful image of connecting two places. Join us as we explore stories and questions regarding how we move between places familiar and unknown, both literally across physical borders or figuratively through difficult emotions or new stages in life.

Early Risers Breakfast Club for 9:15 am service attendees: Simple breakfast foods (i.e. fruit, breads, etc.) will be provided in Fellowship Hall immediately after first service for 9:15 attendees.
This Week in Religious Exploration*:
Childcare will meet in Room 108 to create with playdough and make new friends.
(1st Service) Preschoolers - Adults are invited to join us in the kitchen to serve up some fun. Food will be offered to all the early risers who come to 9:15 a.m. service!
(2nd Service) Preschoolers - Adults Spirit Play for All Ages will meet in Room 103 and will share "Old Turtle," which is a favorite story of several members of the congregation. Then they will explore our Violet UU Promise: Value our earth, which we share with all living things.
(2nd Service) Kindergarten - Adults will meet in Room 208 to work together to create wind chimes. These will remind us to offer random acts of kindness and remind us we can find beauty and grace when winds are blowing.
Middle School and High School Youth are encouraged and welcome to join us in any of the above offerings! (Separate youth groups will resume in the fall.)

* We use the term "Religious Exploration" for summer sessions  and other special all-ages religious education Sundays.
Our Folks...
It is with great sadness that we learned this week of the death on July 22 of the Reverend David Johnson, one of our former ministers. He died as the result of an auto accident in New Hampshire; his wife Julie was also injured and is in critical care. Reverend Johnson was our minister from 1964 to 1970, later serving other congregations, including the UU Church of Tucson, where he was named Minister Emeritus after 15 years of service.
At Church this Sunday:
Gardeners' Gathering this Sunday, 10:30 am
Gather with other gardeners this Sunday to share tips, ideas, successes, and questions. Join us in room 112 at 10:30 am. We will gather on the fourth Sunday each month during coffee hour between services. If you would like to be added to the Gardeners' email list, email  connect@uubloomington.org.
This Sunday, July 28, Young Adult Brunch
Are you age 18 to 35? If so, join us for brunch after second service. We will meet in the Commons after the second service (about 12:30 pm), near the social justice table, and carpool to the Owlery.  Anyone ages 18 to 35 is welcome. Thanks to a generous donation to our Young Adult ministry, brunch is on us. That's right, we'll buy!  Questions? Email Ann LeDuc at connect@uubloomington.org.
