Several new public health orders for Jeffco released

Last week, Jefferson County Public Health issued a public health order extending the state's Stay-at-Home order in Jefferson County through midnight May 8, 2020. In addition, they followed this order with several key revisions and a couple of new ones. This means that the new Safer-At-Home order announced by the Governor will not be in effect in Jefferson County.

The key difference between the statewide Stay-at-Home order and the Jefferson County extension is the allowance for non-Critical Businesses to begin to offer curbside delivery of products. Additionally, travel to pick up these goods is now included in the definition for necessary travel.

In addition, Jefferson County Public Health issued another order limiting P-12 school access and prohibits P-12 sports activities in Jefferson County.  Additionally, all P-12 team sports activities and events are prohibited through July 31, 2020. This order is in effect through July 31, 2020.  Read the full order here.

Lastly, the State of Colorado issued an executive order permitting the limited recommencement of voluntary or elective surgeries and procedures, and Jeffco will align with the Governor's Order. I'm sure this is one of several changes we will see in the coming days and weeks, and it can be daunting keeping up with all the changes. For more details and guidelines, here is an FAQ
Heroes among us in SD19

I've been collecting stories about the heroic efforts of people in our community who are making a difference during a difficult this time. This week, I am pleased to highlight Lisa Smith, and her fiancee Eli Feret, who have been making hand sanitizer for the community.

As Lisa explains in the video, she is with Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster recovery firm that is teaming up with the Clean 1 Initiative to make bottles of hand sanitizer to donate to the community. Recently, they were in need of a printer to assist with the labels for the bottles, and another member of the community, Ed Rothschild of AlphaGraphics, stepped in and offered to help by printing the labels for free. Thank you to Lisa, Eli, and Ed for making a positive difference!!

Tele-Town Hall meeting recordings available

We are very grateful to David Oppenheim, legislative liaison with the Governor's Office, and Commissioner Lesley Dahlkemper, for speaking about the Safer-at-Home order and the Jeffco Stay-at-Home extension during this week's tele-town hall.

Since I will be heading to the Capitol next week to start working on the state budget, I am discontinuing my weekly tele-town hall meetings. If you missed any of our installments, however, you can listen to the recordings below.
