Words From Sandy and Nick

As we carefully navigate the lasting effects of Covid-19, we are making sure to put the health and safety of our customers and staff first, but we understand there is still a need for safety equipment and supplies.

We will be doing our best to take orders and fulfill them, while making adjustments as needed for "curbside" pickups. We are still offering drop-ship options as well.

This month we will be commencing testing operations with our rubber goods testing lab. We are excited to begin working with new and existing customers.

There will be extra precautions taken for pick-up and delivery services for the lab due to the current state of the pandemic, and those steps will be disclosed and updated as needed.

For more information about COVD-19 and what you can do to keep healthy and safe, visit the Centers for Disease Control or your local health department's website.
Preparing To Open The Lab

We are in the final stages of lab preparation. Due to the effects of the Covid-19 virus, we have had some delays with the final stages of setup.

Over the next couple weeks we will have a better idea of when we can begin testing. As America begins to restart and businesses and people are allowed to go back to work, there will be a back log of obligations that need to be taken care of.

Hawkins understands we are just another number on this list, but we are doing everything we can to make sure we are ready to go on our end. We know you have items that need testing, and we can't wait to take care of them for you.
What's New In The Social Scene!
mac_book.jpg
As most of you can imagine, things have been kind of different lately. Working remote, taking virtual phone calls or meetings with co-workers, and modifying daily responsibilities, we have found ways to continue to get the job done.

Not only has the Hawkins Team got the job done, but we have continued to generate new business and progress with developments in the new testing lab.

We are looking forward to the exciting times ahead and developing some new content, but also looking for feedback about what you want to see covered.

Safety Matters
with Vicki

I do trust our valued customers/friends and their families have managed to stay safe during these uncertain times.

As we maneuver through this next phase of soft re-opening, we are making every attempt to have a presence at the warehouse during the work week.
The safety of our customers and employees is paramount.
We would appreciate every effort to wear face and hand coverings if you plan to come by. We're in a very small space and do encourage you to call ahead so that we're better prepared to follow CDC guidelines, and limit the number of people inside at one time.

Just as important as physical health, is mental health and stability.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month . 1 in 5. The number of people who will be affected by mental illness in any given year. This person is sitting next to you. This person is living in your house. This person is a part of your family. This is you. Even if this disease is not yours to fight, you are impacted by knowing and loving someone who is. Please be mindful of even the slightest change in someone you know and intervene. Encourage them to reach out and talk it out. Asking for help does not indicate weakness, but in fact, it indicates strength.

We truly appreciate your continued support of small businesses. We wouldn't be here without you. THANK YOU!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Be well. Have a safe May!
~Vicki

Train and Take Care Of Your Equipment
The majority of people go to work and don't have to worry about someone getting hurt if their stapler jams, or getting injured if the printer runs out of toner. When you're in a hazardous line of work, your equipment's condition and knowing how to use it, is what keeps you safe.

Just like any professional athlete or competitor, knowing how to inspect your gear before a job and after an incident is going to be a huge step in making sure the day is a success.

While I was working with a Search and Rescue team, it was habitual to check ropes for weak spots, and other damage, as well as maintaining use logs for soft goods and taking items out of service when needed. Tools were checked for proper lubrication, cleaned of dirt and grime, and ensured they functioned properly.

Whether you're working as a lineman, an arborist, a construction worker, or with public service, it's vitally important to maintain your gear and use it properly. It could save you from a fall, make you more visible to an oncoming driver, protect you from high voltage, or shield you from flying debris.

Don't cut corners, plan accordingly, and ask questions if you don't know the answer. Train often and take care of your equipment.

Stay Safe this May,
Eric
