Through the spirit of our work that connects our learners, partners, volunteers, and donors, we also strive to create a more integrated and equitable community.

"My Voice Matters": LCNV Celebrates 2019 Recognition Ceremony with the Community

On June 20th, we celebrated our 57th Annual Recognition Ceremony. It was our privilege to recognize some of our outstanding partners, volunteers and students who bring LCNV's mission to life. We were honored to have Gaston Araoz, the Northeastern Regional Representative for U.S. Senator Tim Kaine as our keynote speaker and to witness three of our learners read their essays on "My Voice Matters" aloud. Congratulations to LCNV's 2019 Awardees!

US Department of Education Visits LCNV

This April, we were honored to host the
U.S. Department of Education
's Assistant Secretary of the Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE), Scott Stump, and other representatives from OCTAE at the state and federal level. It was our pleasure to showcase LCNV's Destination Workforce® program in partnership with the
Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington
and to highlight the innovative work of our staff, volunteers, and students.

Today's breakfast: Literacy!
|
LCNV's inaugural A Taste of Literacy breakfast on March 29th was an overwhelming success!
It was attended by over 150 people who enjoyed delicious food, heard the inspiring stories of our speakers, and helped support LCNV's programs for beginning-level English language learners throughout Northern Virginia. Thanks to their generosity, LCNV raised over $38,000 to provide excellent and accessible English classes for LCNV learners

LCNV at the Virginia Adult Education and Literacy Conference

Thanks to the opportunity provided by the Virginia Literacy Foundation, Virginia Department of Education, and Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center, LCNV was thrilled to present at this year's Virginia Adult Education and Literacy Conference. During the conference, our Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Carole Bausell, and Faculty Support Manager, Xavier Muñoz, gave two very inspirational speeches on how we, as organizations and educators, can provide better support to the learners along their path to advancing their English and achieving their goals.
