February 2019: News, Events, and Opportunities for CASA Volunteers

Letter from CASA Executive Director Angela Rose

Dear CASA Volunteers:

It was great to see so many of you at our "State of CASA" annual volunteer meeting this week. Thank you for coming and I hope you found it helpful and informative.

We will be confirming dates for the hand print project very soon and we will keep you informed so that you can make plans to participate.

It has been a busy few weeks here at CASA, including swearing in a new class of volunteer advocates last week. SEPT training is happening now which means our next swearing-in ceremony on March 18 will include both advocates and SEPT facilitators.

In order to meet our goal to serve 785 children this fiscal year, we need more volunteer advocates. We need 53 more before June and are holding a special "Bring a Friend" Informational Session on April 2. You'll see more about that below, but please RSVP if you can!

Thank you all so much for everything you do! If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Angela

Volunteers: We need your help to spread the word!

In order to meet our goal of serving 785 children this year, we need 53 more volunteer advocates by the end of June. We know word of mouth is the best form of advertising, so we're asking for your help. Please think of your friends or relatives that would make great CASAs and invite them to accompany you to our "Bring a Friend" Volunteer Info Hour. It is on April 2 from noon to 1:00 and a light lunch will be served. Please RSVP to Uriko at [email protected].

Welcome new Court Appointed Special Advocates!

We are happy to introduce our newest class of volunteer advocates. This fun, energetic group was sworn in on Feb. 5.

Fox21 and KKTV both ran segments that night about the swearing-in. You can check out the Fox21 segment here.

We are very excited to have her on board with us. Please stop by to say hello and introduce yourself next time you're in the office!
Save the Date: Light of Hope is on April 11, 2019!

CASA's 19th Annual Light of Hope fundraiser will return to the Antlers Hotel Ballroom on April 11 for a breakfast and lunch program. This is a great opportunity to share your love for your work at CASA with those in your life who also have a heart for children. The event is free to attend and then an ask for donations is made from the stage so guests can give a gift from their heart. Please see more information here , or contact Jill Cheetham to host a table, reserve your spot, or inquire about sponsorships.

Help your CASA child experience summer camp!

Camp season will be here before you know it. Please start looking into summer camps and overnight camps for your CASA kids and teens soon so that you can apply for MFCF funding. If your CASA youth is interested in Camp Shady Brook overnight camp, those spots are expected to fill up by March so please apply soon! Click here to apply for funding now.
