A mighty finish in Mexico City
IN a powerhouse final week of the 2019 Pan American Maccabi Games in Mexico City, the Australian team earned another 13 gold medals to take their golden tally to 16, and their overall medal count to 50.
This amazing combined effort helped the Aussies come fourth out of the 21 competing nations. Here are some green and gold highlights.

Women in Sport
Women’s Social Basketball
Women in Sport ran their first Women’s Social Basketball session last week. It was a huge success with 16 women joining in the basketball fun. If you’d like to join us, sessions will be running every Wednesday night 8.30pm.

Women’s Catchball
 The first Catchball session in Victoria (and maybe in Australia?) took place on Monday night. It was a great success, with 22 enthusiastic participants enjoying the activity. Henry Jolson Pathways Program Update
Sport Sessions at Jewish Schools through the Pathways program
This term Maccabi Victoria is delivering more sport programs at Jewish schools through the Henry Jolson Pathways Program.
The first Futsal session for Bialik College year 7 students took place last Friday.
A Golf program for year 9 Bialik students started on the same day.
Maccabi continues to provide coaching for the King David School: Netball for year 7 students, Futsal for year 8-9 students.
Additional sport programs for other Jewish schools, with the Pathways Program support, are currently being organised.
Marc Fridman Finds Form at the U21 World Snooker Championships
FOR young snooker players there is no bigger stage than the IBSF U21 Snooker World Championships, and Australian representative Marc Fridman had the thrill of competing in the 2019 edition earlier this month in Qingdao, China.

Girls Come and Try Cricket
The Maccabi Ajax Junior Cricket Club are holding a Come and Try Cricket morning for girls aged 9 - 16 on August 18 at 8:30 AM at Cricket Victoria's Indoor Training Facility
at CitiPower Centre
Lakeside Drive Albert Park.  
The session will go for 1 hour, and has a bunch of stations and drills to introduce the girls to all aspects of cricket.
We will also be signing up girls for 10 and under Junior Blasters and the 13 and under and 16 and under teams.

Maccabi FC Junior Futsal over summer
Summer Junior Futsal program from Sept 2019 – March 2020 (breaks in Dec/Jan).
Dates to be confirmed
  • Boys and Girls are welcome
  • Planned age groups are U10, U12, U14, U16
  • Two sessions planned, 1 training night, 1 game night
  • The nights will be on Tuesday and Thursday
  • Games are likely to be played at GESAC. Training venue TBA
  • Teams will be graded for competition
  • Price for approx 40 sessions $350.00 per player
  • Non Maccabi FC members are welcome along with current members
 Registrations will open within the next month.

AJAX Junior Footy Wrap
Round 11 was played out in glorious Winter sun. 10 teams playing for premiership points secured good wins. With four rounds to be played, we have 9 teams still in finals contention.

During the week Steve Solomon wins the Pacific Games 400m title
Jemima Montag won a silver medal for Australia in the 20K race walk event at the World University Games in Naples recently and also winning gold as part of the 20K race walk team.
