Dear Saint Rose Families,

It took us two weeks to celebrate Catholic Schools Week and we got it done despite
the adverse weather. On Monday students had Mass with their buddies and celebrated with donuts.  On Friday they again joined up with their buddies for a picnic in the gym. They then worked on care packages for the children at Mom's  House.  Bags were decorated and filled with snacks, hygiene supplies, books and markers/crayons.
In the afternoon the faculty defeated the 8th graders in the annual volleyball game.  Rumor is that the faculty took advantage of the closed school days with some extra practices.  This week the K-5 students had their pajama and movie day. The middle school students either traveled to the 577 Foundation and to lunch or went on the annual ski trip.

Thank you for adjusting to the schedule changes and for sending in the supplies for the care  packages.  More importantly, thank you for investing in a Catholic education.  I appreciate that we have such a supportive community focused on the Catholic formation of young students.

Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

2nd Grade Class Mass - February 10, 2019

Come join other families with students in Grade 2 at 9am Mass on February 10, 2019.  Together with the larger Saint Rose family, you can create bonds of friendship as you worship together.  After the Mass, enjoy a simple reception in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria).  One family is asked to volunteer to bring up the Offertory gifts, and several families are asked to serve as greeters before Mass (arrive at 8:45 am).

Please  CLICK HERE  to RSVP for the Mass and reception.  Seating will be reserved in the front pews on the Saint Joseph side of church.

Service at Saint Rose

Last week, our students had the opportunity to participate in a service project with their Buddy classes. Students created Winter Care Bags that included socks, books, markers, crayons, tissues, and snacks. These care bags will be donated to Mom's House. Thank you to all our families who donated items for the bags and to our students for doing such a wonderful job decorating, preparing, and showing so much compassion.

Creation Care Team

Saint Rose School's Creation Care Team has ten students who meet on Mondays after school until 4:45 to learn about taking care of our environment. At the first meeting, Saint Rose parishioner Hal Mann helped them plant butterfly milkweed seeds, which will be transplanted outdoors in May. Pictured here are Abbigail Martens, Addison Stopar, Lily Smith, Ella Parkins, Gracie Smith, and Anneliese Burrow with their growing seedlings.

Last week, Dr. Franchetti combined a STEM activity with a discussion of global climate change. Groups of students worked together to build the tallest structure out of spaghetti noodles, masking tape, and a marshmallow to show that creativity and thinking outside the box are important in problem-solving. Pictured here is the winning team: Lily Smith, Ella Parkins, and Gracie Smith.

On February 4, Vicki Gallagher from the 577 Foundation amazed us with the number of different plants that rely on pollinators and just how many food items we would no longer have if we lost our pollinators. Pictured here with their hummingbird feeders are Addison Stopar, Kalan Registe, and Anneliese Burrow.

To join our Creation Care Team,

Saint Rose School theme for the year:

Love Life!

February Theme: Racism

"As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.  For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit."   1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Loving Life includes loving all of God's Children.
This month the Saint Rose School theme focuses on Racism.
Money collected on Mass days and for alternate dress will be donated to the Black Catholic Ministries of the Diocese of Toledo.

Thank you for your generosity.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a pastoral letter in November 2018 regarding racism.

Catholic Schools Week Celebrations
Dress like a teacher, Middle School Ski Trip, Annual 8th grade vs. Faculty Volleyball Game

The cold weather may have delayed our Catholic Schools Week celebrations,
but we made up the fun when we returned!

Attention Girls Grades 3-8!

Empowered...strong...inspiring...healthy...FUN!
These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the Girls on the Run program from past participants. We are excited to announce that the Girls on the Run program is returning for another season!   We had so much fun and learned so much last season we are gearing up for the spring! We will offer a different curriculum with new games and activities, but cover the same core values and tackle important life lessons.  New participants are encouraged to sign up and girls who have already completed the program are invited back!
If we have enough girls sign up and find volunteer coaches ... we will be off and running in March!    Practices will be on Mondays and Fridays after school. Online registration opens Monday, February 4th.
