Conferences, Classes and Creative Opportunities

The City of Grand Ledge is currently accepting proposals from artists interested in fabricating a minimum of three sculptures that function as interactive musical instruments, creating a "Sound Garden" in Jaycee Park, along the Riverwalk trail system that connects their downtown and riverside park areas. The functional pieces are to reflect the community's love for nature and music, with an emphasis on having a natural theme reflected in design, material and tone. Deadline has been extended to June 14.

Enter Delta Township District Library's 2019 Summer Youth Art Show! Kids and teens, ages 6-18, are welcome to submit a piece of art from June 10 through July 8. Artwork may include paintings, drawings, graphics, sculpture, pottery, and mixed media. All entries will be displayed in the library's Elmwood Room and display cases from July 11 through Aug. 8.

Sycamore Park Neighborhood Association, in partnership with Neighbors of Scott Woods, Baker Neighborhood, Holmes Street School Community, and CATA, is looking to  artistically enhance a new bus stop located on northbound Pennsylvania Ave., north of the Baker St. crosswalk, in front of Sycamore ParkThe bus stop will be a permanent fixture that will showcase the neighborhood, and the artist. The bus stop will feature solar powered lighting and be constructed of  Capri Blue powder coated steel.  Artists are encouraged to visit and engage with the neighborhood before developing their submission. Applications due June 14.

The Allen Neighborhood Farmers Market is currently seeking featured artists for their summer market days. In much the same way they have featured local musicians and dancers at the market for years, they would like to provide exposure for local visual artists (painters, photographers, potters, glass artists, jewelers, textile artists) and increase art appreciation and awareness among their patrons.

The City Pulse and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing are proud to be presenting their Summer of Art Series once again! Apply to have your artwork featured on one of City Pulse's covers from July 3 - Aug. 28. All media is encouraged to apply. The call is open to anyone who lives in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties.

Creative Placemaking Summit 5: Forward Momentum is coming Sept. 26! The Arts Council invites their members to take a look at the 2019 speaker RFP which closes on July 1. Follow along at #LansingPlacemakers to see what is happening in the world of creative placemaking and look for more details to be released soon.
