FRIDAY MARCH 6, 2020 9am - 12pm
Hello Grandparents and Special Friends,
We are excited to announce a new program for this event. This year, you will be able to visit your students’ classrooms!
At check in, we will be forming visiting groups by class or grade. This is our first year of doing an early morning event so after classroom visits, we will be serving you a beautiful brunch instead of lunch. We are so happy that you are part of our extended Waldorf family; this is one of our favorite days of the year! Parents, if you are able to attend our other school functions, please help us make room for our special guests unless you are needed to assist them.
Sincerely,
Liza Ferraro WSSD Development Events

Current parents are ALWAYS welcomed to join all or part of the monthly "A Day at the Waldorf School" tour, which takes place just once-a-month. It's a great view into what your own child is doing in class, and a peek into the future when you visit the classes above your child's age group. Cap it off by interacting with our High School students, which is a great confirmation of the benefits of Waldorf education and how well prepared the older students are for college, and for life!

Please R.S.V. P. to Julie at admissions@waldorfsandiego.org
The 11th Grade would like to thank everyone in the community who supported the Cabaret. It was a huge success and would not have been possible without the help of parents, grandparents, teachers and friends!

Wonderful community news : O ur cello teacher had a baby girl!
Ms Brown says " Georgia Beatrice Smith arrived on 2/16 and we are in love! So far she is a great eater and pretty easy baby."
Congratulations from all of us at WSSD- savor every moment and rest when you can!

Grade 1

Grade One can't get enough of our new balance beam, a Giving Tree wish fulfillment.

Hand hewn in Maine of maple by a craftsman at B.E. Woods, strong and beautiful, it helps the children with balance and posture.

The children are very grateful and having a lot of fun!

Annual Giving Update
Hello WSSD Families!
Did you know that you can make a pledge for Annual Giving and it will count now? All a pledge is ...is a promise to make a certain payment by a certain date. You let me know how much and when you will make your donation and we can count it now!
Currently we have reached 85% participation and $100,707 in Annual Giving donations. Our goal is 100% participation and $150K by June. The good news is that there is still time! If you have not yet made your tax deductible donation or pledge, please visit: www.waldorfsandiego.org/donate-to-wssd. Annual Giving is one of three very important fundraisers we do to help bridge the gap between tuition and program costs. (Annual Giving, Winter Faire and the Spring Gala). Thank you for helping us achieve 100% participation! If you have Development questions, please contact Liza Ferraro 619-280-8016 x 201.

We will be featuring over the next few months, the qualities of Waldorf graduates as written about in the Waldorf Research Bulletin....and we couldn't agree more!

A second characteristic of Waldorf undergraduates repeatedly cited is their creative and imaginative capacities, not only in the practice of the arts but also in the study of science. A professor noted of a Waldorf undergraduate that his “imagination, his nuanced verbal skills, and his leadership qualities had been richly nourished in him by his prior schooling.” A different Waldorf student earned this comment: “She had more confidence in her imagination than did most students.”

Jason Hurlbut | Class of '17
Jason Hurlbut is a 3rd Year student at Eastman School of Music. He is a member of their Philharmonia orchestra, performances of which are live streamed monthly. ( https://www.esm.rochester.edu/live/ ).
Julian Klincewicz| Class of '14, collaborating with Va ns & Stance Socks
"For emerging artists worldwide,  Julian Klincewicz  is a role model. In the last few years, he has made books, installations and videos, recorded albums and staged DIY fashion shows – all to international acclaim. It’s not the big names which make Klincewicz stand out but his integrity – the ability to approach his work with empathy, care, and realness."

All businesses listed will have a WSSD family connection. This is an opportunity to expand, increase and grow your business and a great way to support our community. Think of our community any time you shop, use professional services or dine out!

Our Directory is officially up on our website, under the Community Page!
