IAIA held their 2018 Scholarship Dinner and Auction on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. During the auction, Scott Malouf and his wife Karen placed the winning bid on a very special offering -- the IAIA Alumni Treasure Box -- which included works by 7 award-winning IAIA alumni artists., including Fritz Casuse (Diné) '96; Rose B. Simpson (Santa Clara Pueblo) '07 & '18; Nocona Burgess (Comanche) '92; and Terese Marie Mailhot (Seabird Island Band) '16.
The Maloufs own Malouf on the Plaza, a luxury retail store specializing in jewelry, weavings, and fashion. After the auction, they placed the box and its treasures in their store window to share the wonderful artworks with their clientele and the Santa Fe community. They soon came to the decision to resell the box and its contents, and donate the proceeds from the sale back to the IAIA Scholarship Fund.

"We were just blown away by the contents," remarked Scott Malouf. " We decided that we would now offer those to the public, and 100% of the sale, not the profits, 100% of the sale will go back to IAIA as additional scholarship money."

We need to set an example of truth and action.' We can all learn from Scott and Karen Malouf and their championing of IAIA Students achieving their dream of college graduation."

emarked that "The IAIA community is grateful to Scott and Karen for this awe-inspiring act of generosity in support of our students and their success".
