For 35 years, the late Tony DeSales, (1941-2000) a Little Italy resident, sat on the corner of Fawn & High Streets, where he illustrated and sold his paintings to neighborhood visitors. Tony handed out complimentary postcards imprinted with sketches of Little Italy scenes, and asked people to mail them back to him once they returned home. As a result, he received postcards from around the U.S. and the world.
Genevieve DeSales often sat near her son, Tony DeSales, as he painted. Tony took care of his mother since he was a young boy almost up until her death in 1998. He lived with her during his entire bachelor life.
