Committee Profile
Bill Kennedy is the Technical Committee Chair of this diverse group which includes subcommittees for sucrose, high fructose syrup, stevia, and supply chain. Our goal is to foster an environment in which beverage industry professionals can share information relating to sweeteners - usage, benefits, issues, storage, security, sustainability, and transportation - that promotes continuous improvement and environmental responsibility. For instance, collaboration and sharing of information across companies helped to develop the Extended Wash guidelines, which were recently expanded to 144 hours. Our committee has also hosted (twice!) the ISBT Thursday seminar on Sweeteners.

We are in the final reviews on updates for ISBT Sucrose, HFS, and Extended Wash guidelines. The Stevia guidelines are next to be updated, and we are always open to creating new guidelines to help industry professionals. Just contact Bill to let him know what you would like to see added to the Sweetener Guideline library. Volunteering to help is an excellent way to get to know your fellow ISBT members and grow the society!

We have a great agenda lined up for our BevTech 2020 Sweetener Technical Committee, with presentations on sucrose manufacturing, new sweetener label regulations, and rare sugars. Join us on Tuesday, April 21 from 2-5 PM.

This Beverage Ingredients course offers a deep dive into understanding the principles of the chemistry, manufacturing, quality guidelines, and applications of the most common ingredients in beverages we consume.
