SOUPer Bowl Monday - Feb 3

Monday, February 3, is SOUPer Bowl Monday at Heritage Christian School. SOUPer Bowl Monday is a time when schools around the country use football’s biggest celebration to inspire students to tackle hunger across the country.

During our SOUPer Bowl Monday, students are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s gear (college or any pro team) and bring in a can (or cans) of soup to school. We will take all the donations to the North Liberty Food Pantry and report our total SOUPer Bowl “score” to students and parents at the end of the day. Through this effort, we will show God’s love to the community we live in and how working together can make a difference in the lives of others.
Free Heritage H.A.N.D.S. Pool Night Sunday, February 9

Bring your family and join Heritage H.A.N.D.S. on Sunday, February 9, at the North Liberty Rec Center for a free pool night from 6:00-7:30pm.
Chick-fil-A Restaurant Night - Tuesday, Feb 11

Join us for another fun evening at Chick-fil-A on Tuesday, February 11 from 5-8pm. 20% of the sales will be given back to Heritage H.A.N.D.S. for their awesome work of building community at the school. Hope to see you there!

*H.A.N.D.S. sponsors these nights roughly once a month at various restaurants in the area. Restaurant Nights are fundraisers that local restaurants provide to schools and organizations as a means of serving and supporting the community. A portion of the proceeds from those nights (as designated by the particular restaurant) is given back to H.A.N.D.S. which they in turn use to support various events and activities at the school.
No After School Care on Friday, March 6

There will be NO AFTER SCHOOL CARE from 3:30 to 5:30pm on Friday, March 6, 2020. This will allow our After School staff (and all of you) enough time to prepare and get to Bella Sala for our Educating for Eternity Gala that evening. Pre-K after school will still take place until 3:30pm that day. This will only affect those in after care beginning at 3:30pm.
Loaves 4 Learning School Fundraising Program

Heritage is now participating in a loyalty rewards program offered by the bakers of Country Hearth, Village Hearth, Artisan Hearth, and Fiber Up breads, allowing us the opportunity to earn money for our school. Look for the products shown below and start saving UPC proof-of-purchases from products because each is worth 5 cents! UPCs can be dropped off in your child's classroom or in the office.
Lunch Server Needed - Mondays

We're looking for someone to join our fabulous team of lunch servers. Right now we need someone to help out on Mondays. If you or someone you know is available that day from 11am-12:30pm, please contact Brenda  ( wichhartb@hcs-nl.com ).  If you need a referral about how enjoyable serving lunch is, we can provide that as well! :-)

Sports Update

Game Recaps :
Girls:
The Heritage girls basketball team had 2 nail biters this week, falling to Central Lutheran in overtime on Tuesday, then rebounding to beat Trinity Lutheran by 1 point on Thursday. The win Thursday was fueled by important contributions from our 8th graders playing in their final home game, with Nora Miller connecting on a basket mid-way through the fourth quarter, and Eno Ituk hitting the game-winning free throw with less than a minute remaining. Grace Dalmasso, Kendall Pitcher and Abigail Boldt displayed improved aggressiveness at key moments in their rebounding and defensive efforts this week.

7/8th Boys:
The 7/8 th Eagles opened their week with an exciting 37-16 victory over Central Lutheran. Last night’s game against Trinity Lutheran proved to be a good match-up for most of the game until the 4 th quarter when Trinity went on an impressive run. The Eagles fell to the Trojans 30-47. Leading scorers for the week were Luke Traetow with 18 points, Trey Schweitzer with 17 points and Zachary Ahrens with 10 points. With a record of 3-4, the Eagles are home again on Monday, February 3 rd , taking on the Mount Pleasant Knights at 6:00 pm.
