Even though school buildings are closed, we know teachers and staff are continuing to work hard for our students! In addition to the opportunities above, here are a few more ideas to celebrate our school heroes during the upcoming National Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, May 4 - 8

  1. Celebrate your teachers on your school Facebook page by having the students in their class post a "Thank you" video.
  2. Reach out to your local coffee shop and pay-it-forward by prepaying for teachers. Invite them to visit the coffee shop and show their school I.D. to receive their free coffee.
  3. Partner with a local car wash and pay-it-forward for your teachers and staff by prepaying. Invite them to visit the car wash and show their school I.D. to receive their free wash.
  4. Purchase e-gift cards and email them to teachers and staff.
  5. Send out fillable "Thank You" cards. (Here is a great link with a few templates.)
  6. Have some yard signs - either created by students or professionally made - that say something like "A Rock Star Teacher lives here!"
  7. Create trivia questions about your teachers and staff and post them on your social media sites. Get your whole community involved in celebrating all they do!
What is your Chapter doing? Share it on the Chapter Chat Facebook page !

Q: For staff appreciation week, we are looking for donations from parents that we can use to buy gift cards or presents for staff. How can we do that?

A: You can set up parent donations through a campaign on Colorado Gives or MySchoolBucks . Information and directions for setting these up can be found   here . You can also purchase e-gift cards and submit for reimbursement.
Q: If our annual event has been canceled, how do we receive refunds from vendors, who do they write the check to, and where do they send the refund?
A:  If a vendor will be refunding you, have them make the check payable to your chapter's name (ie. DCEF-Highlands Ranch High School After Prom) , and send it to your Treasurer's home address. Once the check is received, you can deposit it into your account.
This fund will provide assistance to the ongoing efforts to help our students, families, teachers and staff succeed at this time of uncertainty.
The goal of this program is to collect, assemble and distribute new backpacks and school supplies to students in need in Douglas County.
The second annual gala will unite the DC community in support of programs in STEM, Career Tech Education, the Arts, and many more areas.
