Student Spotlight - Prithvi Raj Kunapareddi
|
|
|
Hello Rowdy Raiders,
My name is Prithvi Raj from Hyderabad, India. I’m getting my masters degree in marketing (it’s called MS Marketing Analytics & Insights for those of you wondering) from Wright State. Yes, there are actually specific masters degrees in the field of marketing alone. So basically, I figure out how to get you to buy more stuff ;)

I love reading, I devour about a book a week, primarily non-fiction. I also love hitting the gym, I am sore about this pandemic lockdown because it caused the gyms to shutdown :(. Apart from that I love to take long walks and keep pondering the mysteries of the universe. I am also a Toastmaster and have been for about 7+ years. It is a forum for public speaking and you guys should also check it out, it offers a ton of value for the time invested.
I like Wright State because the professors and other staff are very helpful, not all universities are like that and I’m grateful for this. I can’t wait for the campus to fully open up so that there is a lot more fun stuff one can do.
My goal at Wright State is to finish my degree and work in mission driven enterprises and put my skill to good use.

How can I apply for an OPT I-20 and where can I obtain it since the UCIE office is closed?
Although the campus is temporarily closed, OPT applications are still being processed daily. Please scan and email the application with department approval to fei.yu@wright.edu. After it is processed, we will mail the I-20 to you.
Maintaining status on OPT is still the same as usual
You are permitted only 90 days of unemployment between the start and end dates on your EAD card. In addition, you are required to report the following information through the SEVP Portal while on OPT within 10 days from the change:
1. When you start a new job.
2. When you change addresses.
3. Periods of unemployment.
4. 6-month validation (You can email fei.yu@wright.edu after you update your employment information and residential address through SEVP Portal)
Can I travel back to my home country during OPT period?
Please be aware that if you are unemployed for more than 90 days, you will lose your OPT status. Also, during this uncertain time, we do not suggest international travel as there is no guarantee of open borders.

National Holidays Spotlight - National Lucky Penny Day
|
|
On May 23rd, National Lucky Penny Day hopes you’ll have good luck all day long.
|
|
|
The U.S penny has been under debate since at least 1990—if not earlier due to the fact that the metals used to make it are worth more than what the penny is worth. While other countries have eliminated coins they feel are no longer worth producing, the United States continues to mint them. Perhaps this is due to the fact that pennies throughout history have been considered to be lucky coins. A fact that’s immortalized by National Lucky Penny Day, a day that’s observed on the 23rd of May every year.
