Reminder: Give Local This Holiday Season
Looking for giving opportunities this holiday season? Long Island City is home to many non-profit organizations that work tirelessly all year long and they always welcome a helping hand. Contact our friends at Hour Children, The Floating Hospital, Urban Upbound, Jacob Riis Neighborhood Settlement, the 108th Precinct Community Council and all of LIC's non-profits to find out how you can pitch in. 
Apply: Borough President Katz's African American Heritage Committee Scholarship
Each year, through the Office of Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, the African American Heritage Committee awards scholarships to graduating High School Seniors pursuing a post-secondary education. Recipients receive a monetary award for academic expenses. Applicant must be a Queens resident.  Interested seniors must submit completed application with an official transcript of your grades by 5:00 p.m. on January 17, 2019. Transcripts can be emailed to  sanderson@queensbp.org or faxed to
