Fundraising Concert was a success
The Association of Chinese Americans fundraising concert headlined by Jie Wang and Jinsheng Zhang and dozens of community performers was a huge success last Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Lamphere High School Auditorium. More than 130 VIP guests and an audience of 500 total came for an evening of Chinese classical and folk music and dance. The concert was held to support the Chinese Community Center capital campaign and the programs of the ACA.
This special concert was organized by local well known Chinese Americans Soprano Jie Wang and Tenor Jinsheng Zhang , and the Association of Chinese Americans, and supported by the Michigan Chinese Choir and many other passionate musicians and dancers, including Selina Wang, Shubo Fang, Angela Chao, Jiahua Dance Team among others. ACA president Roland Hwang cited the importance of the event as part of a growing arts scene in Madison Heights, and Madison Heights Mayor Brian Hartwell gave the ACA a golden brick souvenir to pledge his resources of time and encouragement in support of our bold vision to build a better ACA. The concert was filled with solos, duet and a chorus singing well-known songs from diverse cultures along with solo and group dances blending western and oriental artistical colors to the stage. The concert featured three generations of Chinese musicians and artists by embracing their cultural heritage through music.
ACA’s purpose in holding this concert was to fundraise for its Chinese Community Center building in Madison Heights. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the building maintenance and repairs and programs of the ACA. In order to present ACA’s sincere gratitude to all our VIP guests of this fundraising concert and all donors, a reception was held before the concert, during which, ACA vice president Shenlin Chen, treasurer Gloria Zhao and executive director Joyce Li gave their remarks to welcome and thank donors for their continuous support. In addition, ACA’s silent auction organized by Gloria Zhao, held during the reception featured Chinese paintings, batik painting, handmade jewelry by Samantha Zhao, jewelry collections by J&M donated by Page Toyota and Page Honda Bloomfield, as an additional benefit to the Capital Campaign. Jue Wang from  Page Toyota and Page Honda Bloomfield was the top donor that donated about $1,400 jewelry and contributed almost $700 into the silent auction total.
In a summary, total fund raised by this particular concert is: $12,704.80, among which, ticket sale total is $6,975.00, total donation is $4,213.80, silent auction total is $1,366.00 and advertisement $150.00.
