Last week, the dental profession in Colorado lost a respected leader, service- minded individual and dedicated ambassador of organized dentistry. Dr. Don Schoemaker was the president of the CDA in 1977-1978 and is survived by his wife; two adult children (CDA members Dr. Jeane Schoemaker and Dr. Neil Schoemaker); and several other members of his family.
Dr. Schoemaker practiced dentistry for 43 years in Fort Morgan, CO after graduating from the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry in 1953.
He was a life member of the American Dental Association and the International College of Dentists, as well as a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Schoemaker's memorial service will be held this Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church, 117 E. Bijou Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Dr. D. Donald Schoemaker Memorial Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary (checks can be mailed to 225 E. Platte Ave. Fort Morgan, CO 80701). Gifts will be forwarded to the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church.
