The jolly old elf himself will be greeting visitors in downtown Burlington again this season at Nancy Neafie Park on the corner of Sixth & Jefferson. Santa will be at his cottage during the Holiday Shop Hops on Thursdays from 6 - 8 PM until Christmas. Cameras are welcome. Letters to Santa can be left in the mail slot at his cottage.
What:  The Annual Dinner of the Greater Burlington Partnership is a great time to showcase your business by donating to the Silent Auction. Businesses that donate to the Silent Auction are recognized in the program and on the bid sheets for their donation. Businesses can donate a basket, products or gift certificates, or a monetary donation, and the volunteers will do the shopping for you.

Livestrong at the YMCA
What:  The Burlington Y is running a FREE program for cancer survivors in the area. It is open to any adult who has had a cancer diagnosis and at any stage of recovery or treatment. Specially trained instructors guide participants through areas of exercise focusing on cardio endurance, strength, flexibility and balance. The twice weekly classes are tailored to the needs and abilities of the participants. Included is a membership to the Burlington YMCA for the run of the program in order to encourage participants to work on their fitness goals outside of class time. Registration is open from now until the program begins January 8.

The Longest Day - Early Bird Registration Deadline December 21
What:  The Longest Day - the longest day of daylight is the day we fight! Help fight Alzheimer's by getting involved in this DIY on YOUR schedule event! Centered around the June 21 summer solstice, the longest day of light in the year, participants choose ANY activity to raise funds to support local free services and research on ANY date that works for them (special messaging focus on June 21). The only limitation is your creativity! Club or restaurant partnership event, scrap-booking, trail ride, block party, bake sale, trivia night. concert, sport, video or bridge tournament - you name it - anything goes!  Register before  December 21 deadline to receive an upgraded dry fit special edition tee, a signature TLD cooler and specialized toolkit to organize and run your event.

What:  You can help us make it happen - a world without Alzheimer's disease. The Alzheimer's Association is looking for passionate, inspired volunteers who want to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease in our communities in SE Iowa. Whether you can spare a few hours a month, or make a more significant time commitment, please consider becoming a volunteer.
