Advent Devotion – Make Room for Hope
by Joe Iovino, United Methodist Communications
At Christmas, we can lose focus on what is most important, thinking more about what we want than what we already have in Christ.
In the United States this year, Amazon.com released its first-ever, print, toy catalog for Christmas. It even included stickers to help family members highlight the items they most want this year.
We sometimes come to Christmas from a place of lack. We ask our kids what they want for Christmas and make wish lists of our own. We worry about having enough money to get everyone the gifts we’ve imagined they so desperately want.

Share Some Firewood This Winter
|
Lowell UMC is facilitating the distribution of firewood for those who heat their homes with wood heat and are not able to easily afford the cost of purchasing firewood. If you have unused firewood on your property, the church will try to match the one who needs it with the one who has it. Hardwoods will burn the best. Call 315-264-1149, or 315-510-3464. Find a flyer
here.
Share the project with your church!

Due to a new law, every employer in New York State
is required to establish and distribute a sexual harassment prevention policy. The policy can be distributed in writing or electronically. Employers are encouraged to have employees acknowledge receipt of the policy, and to post a copy of the policy where employees can easily access it.
Every employer is also required to provide employees with sexual harassment prevention training by October 9, 2019. This is an annual requirement as part of the new regulations.
Additional resources for sexual harassment training will be shared once information has been gathered.
