Dr. Dan Peters' colleague Joanne Foster lost her beloved cousin Joyce Fienberg in the Pittsburg synagogue shooting. Please help share her piece about using creative expression to work through and cope with pain and loss. Let us be strong and compassionate towards each other, and teach and show our kids how to do the same.

Here are 6 ideas to help children deal with difficult times and navigate circumstances in ways that enable them to harness their passions and, hopefully, feel better. Each point requires kids to think about questions (and then act).

New book: Confidence & Joy: Success Strategies for Kids with Learning Differences
Summit Center's friend and colleague, Dr. Deborah Swain, has co-authored a new book: Confidence & Joy: Success Strategies for Kids with Learning Differences. This book provides practical tools to lead your child with learning differences to lifelong success -educationally, socially, and personally. Parents will learn simple guidelines to build successful relationships, identify confidence and joy robbers, and notice signs and signals of learning differences. Based on more than 70 years of clinical experience working with children with learning differences and communication disorders, Dr. Deborah Ross-Swain and Dr. Elaine Fogel Schneider's message is simple and effective: Children with learning differences have their own talents and are smart, bright, and wonderful in their own way.  Link to Amazon
