CFMS BUILDING NEWSLETTER
December 4, 2018

Dear CFMS Families,

The end of the semester is fast approaching. This is a great time to finish strong, reflect and prepare for second semester. Here are some ways you can help your child organize.

1. Create lists in logical order - prioritize chores with deadlines.
2. Divide and Conquer - Use a calendar or to-do list.
3. Have a front door "go box" - designated place for school items.
4. Color code tasks - red and green stickers identifying chores that need to be done at the end of the day or the end of the week.
5. Use a whiteboard - for visualization, note taking, mapping.
6. Set a weekly backpack cleaning day - Get rid of clutter.
7. Keep track of time - Plan by writing start/end times for projects.

Please let me know if you have any questions or needs.

Best,

CLASSROOM CONNECTIONS

To provide support to students and staff in order to maximize potential, growth and achievement, we must build a climate of TEAMWORK .  Therefore ALL of CFMS will be attending   A Christmas Story at the Allen Theater in   Playhouse Square o n Tuesday, December 18th. This is an opportunity for the entire CFMS student body to participate in a shared schoolwide experience that is culturally enriching (Cleveland connections), while also supporting our very own CFMS student, Nathan Hill (starring as Farkus)! Following a “Meet and Greet” with the cast after the show, students will eat packed lunches at the theater before returning to school. Buses will leave CFMS around 9am for the 10:30 show and return by 2:15. Money and permission slips are past due and December 5th is the last day to collect!

Mental Wellness Corner …. addressing family stress
Mental Wellness Corner - this month’s topic….the 7 Cs of building resilience.

It’s not possible to protect our children from the ups and downs of life. Raising resilient children, however, is possible and can provide them with the tools they need to respond to the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood and to navigate successfully in adulthood. Despite our best efforts, we cannot prevent adversity and daily stress; but we can learn to be more resilient by changing how we think about challenges and adversities.
Safer Ohio Tip Line
The single greatest deterrent of an act of violence is identification and intervention with at risk students. All students, parents and staff must feel comfortable expressing concern and alerting the appropriate individual(s) when concerns arise. The state of Ohio has an anonymous tip line that can be reached via text or call with any issue of concern, 1-844-SaferOH  (844-723-3764 ). This line is monitored by analysts at the Ohio Homeland Security Threat Assessment and Prevention Unity at all times.
