A final word from Andy

The time has come, and this is my final weekly email. My time here has certainly been eventful and challenging on the one hand, but due to the pandemic has also been event-less as we lost at least 5 retreats/mission trips as well as the ability to meet in person for a large chunk of my time here.

Despite all that, it has been a joy to be here and meet so many wonderful people. I'm particularly grateful for the support I've received over the last few months when depression hit me hard in March. I also know my openness has created opportunities for others to talk about mental health. Please continue to have those conversations.

This Sunday we will confirm 7 of our students as they publicly profess their faith on Pentecost Sunday. My prayer as I leave is that they, and all of us, will continue to be guided by the Holy Spirit and let the fire of Christ burn brightly and passionately in our lives.

Our young people are tremendously talented, inquisitive, faithful, compassionate and much more. Whenever the next Youth Director comes on staff, he or she will journey along the path of faith with them. As the search process plays out, please pray for wisdom and discernment, and ask God what support the new person might need, but be aware that God might tell you to be part of the answer!

I will continue to hold you all in prayer beyond Sunday, and wish you all the depth, richness and challenge of God's blessing. If you want to keep in touch, I'm on Facebook and Twitter, my cell number won't change.

Thank you and God bless,

Andy
Sunday School at 9:30

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning at 9:30. This Sunday you will be able to join us either in person or via Zoom. We'll meet in person in the Middle School room, if you are logging on via Zoom please use this Zoom link (password RUMCYouth).

We'll be wondering what the Holy Spirit is doing in today's world and what that might look like, as well as looking ahead to summer plans.
Youth Group

This Sunday is both our Senior Celebration and our last youth group ahead of the summer break. We're ordering food from Carytown Burgers and Fries and Grubhub will be delivering it. We've set up a group order with Grubhub, you can order your meal on this link. Join us at 6 pm on Sunday! So that we don't disturb filming for Godspell, please gather at the Circle outside the Welcome Center if you are only coming for youth group. All being well we will then walk over to the Picnic Shelter when Godspell finishes. Please park out front and avoid the Quad/rear parking lots.

A couple of notes for the order:
  • The link will be active until at least 12 noon on Thursday, but once it is taken down no further orders will be accepted. We need time before Sunday to make other arrangements around numbers attending.
  • The link has a limit of 20 people per order, if you try to order and we have reached the limit, please contact Andy so he can set another one up. (He will be monitoring numbers as well).
  • We will have drinks, ketchup and mustard available on Sunday.
Godspell Updates

This Sunday is performance day! All cast and crew should arrive no later than 1:30 on Sunday, and plan to stay until 6:00. Be on the lookout for both a cast email and an individualized email in the next couple of days, to make sure we are all on the same page with the remaining production needs. After so much hard work, here's to a great performance this weekend!
