President's Message
I believe!

I believe in you as a woman business owner! I believe you influence your success with your optimism and pragmatic
approach. I believe your involvement in your chapter is what helps increase the number of successful women-owned businesses in California and will continue to grow our ranks in the coming year.

It's exciting to consider our successes in 2018 and the next advancements for 2019:

- The NAWBO CA sponsored bill SB826 passed! Next year, California publicly held companies will be adding hundreds of qualified women to their Boards. Your chapter is sure to have programming around this relevant topic. Look to NAWBO National to launch a program to offer Board Certification Training to support WBOs and women in business across the country.

- Propel 2018 attracted additional sponsors, a record-breaking attendance and increased revenues. An even more enticing Propel 2019 (April 28-30, 2019 in Sacramento) is underway thanks to Hilary Lentini and her committee. Register today at www.nawbopropel.org and grab your room at The Citizen Hotel, too.

- We began to cross-promote and work alongside WBEC-Pacific and will continue
partnerships with WBO-focused organizations. Anne Staines continues to connect us with PAC events in Sacramento.

- We encourage you to attend SheAngels Pitch Fest in Fall 2019. Many of our WBOs have already sent in their application for this Pitch Fest in LA. Register today at www.sheangels.com.

Please reach out and let me know what you'd like to see from NAWBO CA in 2019. I'd love to hear from you directly and learn what's on your mind.

Invest in your membership, support your NAWBO Sisters in their journey and let's all grow! I believe in YOU! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Joyful New Year.

Maria Sharapova's biggest piece of
advice to female entrepreneurs

From FOX Business

Maria Sharapova is not only one of world's top tennis players - with five Grand Slam titles under her belt - but she is also a savvy businesswomen.  In less than six years, she has turned her $500,000 investment into her candy startup Sugarpova into a $20 million international business.

But despite some mishaps, it helped her succeed in the end.  "I feel that I bring a lot of fresh perspective and maybe I don't make the conventional decisions that some expert from the food business would make, but I think my expertise in traveling the world and seeing lots of things [works]," Sharapova tells FOX Business.

That is one of the reasons why the Russian-born star decided to partner with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) to help other female entrepreneurs launch their ideas Continue reading
