It’s beginning to look a lot like winter - everywhere you go! Sing it with me, people!! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
It may seem like it’s coming too quickly, but we find ourselves entering into December’s frosty freeze and holiday season. Visions of sugar plums start dancing in our heads, rather than reading, writing and arithmetic! It’s a wonderful time of the year! It’s also not too late to make sure your name is on Santa’s nice list by getting all of your homework done and turned in. Be good, for goodness sake!
Please be aware of the weather conditions and potential school delays and/or closings. We’ll do our best to keep everyone informed as quickly as we can.
Please check with your children to be certain that they are keeping up with their studies in each and every one of their classes. Teachers are available via email and phone to answer any questions you may have about your child’s progress. We welcome personal visits as well, come and hang out with us here.
The Winter break is a wonderful time to spend with family and friends, but we also realize that there are those less fortunate who have unmet needs during this time. Our counselors are here to help in any way we can, please ask if you need anything.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
-Rob Taylor, Principal

Sophomore ACP Conferences:
December 21 is the deadline for RAHS students to request schedule changes for Semester 2. For a request to be considered, a student must speak to a School Counselor prior by the deadline. The student may need to submit a signed schedule change form to the School Counselor in order for the request to be processed. After school resumes in January, changes will only be made for students with Semester 2 scheduling errors or if credit remediation is required.
- Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) must speak to their Case Managers and obtain written approval before School Counseling Staff will consider any schedule change requests.
- Seniors requests for off-campus will be considered later (announcements will be made at school).
Homework Requests:
If a student is excused from classes for 3+ consecutive days due to illness or other unforeseen reasons, please
contact Mrs. Moon
to request homework. An emailed homework request will be shared with teachers, the student, and parent/guardian; hard copies of homework will be available for collection from the School Counseling Office approximately 24 hours after the request was received. See pages 7-9 of the
2018-2019 Reedsburg Area High School Student Handbook
for details.
The RAHS Counseling Office will be closed during Winter Break.

The District's New School Has A Name
|
|
The School District of Reedsburg's new school now has a name,
Prairie Ridge Intermediate School
. It was approved by the Board of Education during their meeting on Monday, November 19.
The name,
Prairie Ridge Intermediate School
, incorporates the building's themes of sandstone bluffs, agriculture, forest, industry, wetlands, the 400 trail, and the Baraboo River; along with the local area it resides. In addition, the name takes on the identity of the school, the students it will serve, and the educational culture created within.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the naming contest by submitting names and voting. The name was submitted by two individuals Mary Jo Huber and Barb Sand. They will be part of the school's Grand Opening Celebration.

Department of Public Instruction Releases District and School Report Cards
|
|
The School District of Reedsburg has had a wonderful start to its year! "We are excited about each student's individual growth and achievements. As a learning community, we are continually looking to improve," says Linda Bruun, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. "One source we use to reflect on our strengths and areas for improvement is the School Report Card."
The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) generates a School Report Card and District Report Card for every publicly funded school and district in the state. These public report cards can be found online at
https://apps2.dpi.wi.gov/reportcards/home
. The Report Cards are intended to help schools and districts use performance data to target improvement efforts that ensure students are ready for their next educational step – including the next grade level, graduation, college, and careers.
