Westland Kicks Off Holiday Decoration Contest

Westland, MI (December 3) -     The "All American Holiday Decorating Contest" kicked off on Friday, November 30 and will run until midnight on Monday, December 24.   Residents can visit the City of Westland's website to nominate themselves or a friend in one or all of the three categories: Best Traditional Display, Most Creative Display and Over the Top Display.  Nominees will be asked to enter a picture along with their submission.

"The Department of Neighborhood Services team will  be out and about in neighborhoods in search of those residents who have gone the extra mile to make their homes shine this holiday season," commented Mayor Wild.  "They will be the judges this  year and will make the final decision on who wins."

Winners will be announced and awarded with prizes at the first council meeting of the New Year on Monday, January 7.

"One of my favorite memories of the holidays growing up in Westland was driving around with my parents to look at the holiday lights and decorations," commented Mayor Wild.  "We have a lot of creative, festive residents here and I am excited to see what everyone comes up with."
