Responding to Questions about
DRESS CODE:
|
|
The Saint Kosmas Conference Planning Team has received numerous questions regarding dress code and whether shorts are permitted for adults and children at the conference. In response, we offer the following:
-
At the Saint Kosmas Orthodox Education Conference in which Orthodox laity and clergy will be gathered together, it is appropriate that modesty be maintained.
- At the Gold Canyon Golf Resort, the venue areas that have been reserved for the Saint Kosmas Conference meetings and meals are in a separate area from the resort lodging, golfing, and swimming areas.
- While in the conference meeting rooms, exhibition hall, and common meal areas, pants and skirts would be ideal. Shorts and skirts for adults and teens should be knee-length at minimum. No low-cut or sheer blouses.
- Attendees should feel free to dress more casually in the resort lodging, golfing, and swimming areas, which are separate from the conference venue space.
-
Children are free to wear shorts while participating in the youth program, however, for the desert hike, it would be more appropriate to wear jeans or pants to avoid being scratched by the desert foliage. Closed-toe shoes are required for the desert hike. If teens are wearing shorts or skirts in the youth program, they should be knee-length at minimum.
-
For those participating in a post-conference pilgrimage to one of the Arizona monasteries, you can learn more about the monastery dress codes by visiting the website of the monastery you intend to visit. For more information, visit our "Post-Conference Event" page.

Thank you for your patience. We hope to have this page complete in the next 24-48 hours. In response to those asking about the service schedule at St. Anthony's Monastery, The Great Canon is being served at Saint Anthony's Monastery on Thursday morning, April 15, 2021 at 1:00 AM. It is done as part of the night service that includes Divine Liturgy. Locations and schedules for the Salutations Service will be posted here.
