San Benito RPC Committee
On October 10th the San Benito RPC Committee met with City Community Development Director Bryan Swanson where city planner Mary Paxton reviewed the city's Park Facility Master Plan. The city is currently working with Wildan in preparing a Nexus Study. BIA will be reviewing the Nexus Study and supportive documents and providing feedback in the coming months. On October 11th The South Bay RPC Committee met with City of Santa Clara council candidates Nancy Biagini (District 2) and Sam Kumar, (District 3). In addition to the candidates providing an update on their current campaigns, the committee reviewed each candidates views regarding affordable housing, the costs and impacts of inclusionary zoning and their view of future development in the City of Santa Clara. No formal BIA endorsements were recommended by the RPC Committee.
A South Bay RPC Committee meeting is scheduled for November 1st with Councilman Chappie Jones, a board member of the Cities Association and San Jose Representative. Councilman Jones will be updating the RPC on the Sub-Regional Housing Needs Allocation Task Force. The Sub-Regional Housing Needs Allocation Task Force has been formed to provide a forum where local jurisdictions can discuss future housing needs, opportunities and challenges from a sub-regional standpoint with the stated intent to reach consensus amongst participating cities. Fairfield Shelter Project with Richmond American Homes
Richmond American Homes is teaming up with HomeAid Northern California to remodel a shelter for families experiencing domestic violence in Fairfield. We are partnering with Safequest Solano, who will provide housing, services, and counseling for the families. The goal of this work is to create a dignified and welcoming home for the families experiencing trauma so they can have a place to catch their breath and get back on their feet!
