New M embers

We welcome our members who joined in November!:

Rebecca O'Donnell
Rebecca Thompson
Rebecca O'Donnell is an Atlanta native, but grew-up in the Virginia
suburbs of Washington D.C. She and her husband, Frank,  have lived in Marietta (East Cobb) for many years. Her  daughter and her family recently moved to Portland, OR,  so she is missing her two grandchildren terribly.  It also gives her a  reason to travel to the NW!  She  learned about TTN from an article in the AJC and was  impressed with the commitment and variety of interests  for women from all over our country. She is very happy to  join the Atlanta chapter and become involved in a  meaningful way.
Her education and career have been in education, she was fortunate to work with dyslexic  students who struggled to learn to read. After retirement  from a private Atlanta school, she began one- on-one tutoring with dyslexic students in grades 1-3 in her  home classroom. Over a ten-year period she witnessed  amazing progress from these children. Above all, it was  the most rewarding time of her teaching career!
Rebecca enjoys most of all her  family and grandchildren, learning,
reading, travel, movies, cooking, walking, yoga, time with
friends, and my church (Northpoint Community Church).

Rebecca Thompson,  After careers as an attorney, a stay at home mom and most recently a social worker, Becky is enjoying the flexibility of using her skills as a volunteer in a mentoring program with the homeless and pro bono work with immigrants. She makes time for frequent visits to her new granddaughter in New York. She has enjoyed living in Atlanta the past five years and has also lived in Chicago, Houston, Washington, D.C., Birmingham and the New York area. Her hobbies include working out, walking her dog, yoga, reading, traveling with her husband, visiting museums and being part of a dream group and Women Within.  Rebecca joined in 2014 and has made the wise decision to renew her membership.

Members who joined in November:
Lynn Bertrand, Cindy Canova, Joyce Cook, Rebecca O'Donnell, and Rebecca Thompson.
We welcome them and look forward to great times!!

Need Assistance with Your Annual Dues?

TTN provides a limited amount of aid to assist in the payment of membership dues for those in challenging situations. Contact Susan Collins, Executive Director, about possible financial assistance.

A Season to Give

December is known as a big charitable contribution month.  Many feel the need to help those less fortunate as they consume more in purchasing gifts and making the holidays festive than any other time of the year.  It is a good feeling to know you have contributed something to make another person have a sense of well-being even if it is very small.  Others contribute to get a tax write off.  Maybe not as altruistic but a r eality as to why giving is more prevalent at the end of the year.

The Transition Network, Atlanta Chapter is helping by giving to two efforts.  The Project Kids Eat and Remerge and their program, Giving Grace are our chosen charities.  We will donate items at our Holiday Party for the Project Kids Eat charity (see the list in this newsletter and a previous email) and hopefully you sent a gift card to Kim Goff to assist a family for Giving Grace.

Kim Goff
Kim is overseeing our volunteer opportunities and more is coming in
the upcoming months for us as a conscientious group to help those in the communities in which we live where we can make a difference.  Please respond to any and all request she sends out as soon as you can.

We often don't think of others being in need when we don't see it up close.  Fortunately people who work in non-profits and outreach through various organizations understand the need is there.

We will do what we can to help!!
