News of the Parish
Update from the Rector Search Committee
Our Rector Search process is continuing to progress forward. The Search Committee has spent a considerable amount of time gathering information about the various applicants and interviewing a number of candidates. The Vestry has recently scheduled additional interviews with one of those candidates for late May. The Vestry will continue its interviews until it is convinced that it has found the right leader for our Parish. Please continue to pray that God will bless the work of the Search Committee and Vestry and that God will make His call to lead St. John’s clear to our next Rector. We are excited about the upcoming interviews and the other options available to us.

Senior Sunday 2021!
St. John's Senior Sunday will be Sunday, May 2, at the 10:00 service. Come help us honor our high school graduates, and hear them speak about their time at St. John's!

If you have a graduating high school senior, and you have not been contacted about Senior Sunday, please email Youth Minister Ayana Grady!
Evening Prayer Help Wanted
We are now expanding Evening Prayer to include lay leaders. Evening Prayer is not an office that requires a member of the clergy and so represents a wonderful opportunity to expand lay participation in the spiritual life of the church.  This will also give your clergy some needed sabbath.

The requirements are not difficult. The time commitment is about 20 minutes at 4:00 p.m. one day a week for an agreed upon number of weeks. There is a little setup and training that Fr. Cannon will provide. Evening Prayer happens on Facebook, so a Facebook account is required. If you are called to participate, please contact Fr. Cannon.
Flowers and Candle Available
The candle in the Sanctuary Light is available on May 16, the candle in the Sanctuary Light is available on May 23, and the flowers at the Chapel Altar are available on May 30. If you would like to take one of these opportunities to honor a loved one and support St. John’s, contact us at parish@stjohnstampa.org.
Lamentation, Grace, and Hope Speaker Series Concludes Sunday
St. John's invites parishioners and the entire diocese to join us for the final in a three-part speaker program featuring Christian M. M. Brady. The remaining event will take place on Sunday, April 25, at 4:30 p.m. and will be held virtually on Zoom. The link will be sent to St. John’s parishioners via Realm, others, please contact us at parish@stjohnstampa.org to get the link. Click here to read more about the event and about Christian.

Click here for the recording of the second session. We welcome you to attend the remaining session of this moving and impactful series, even if you missed the first ones.

Gifts of thanksgiving for Christian’s generous time with us can be made to the Mack Brady Memorial Men’s Soccer Fund at Penn State, in memory of Christian and Elizabeth Brady’s son.
